yet the bye round show this advantage is well and truly trumped by showing games concurrently. Our average ratings for standard rounds is around 400k per game. These rounds include concurrent games that target each market.

Yet bye rounds where games are shown in isolation, and games do not target each market average over 500k per game.

I think we go past the power of "FTA" has and how much more viewers it can achieve
especially when Home States are receiving there home games each week...

remember the AFL H.Q are not pinheads
there a team out to achieve the best outcome.

i presented you with figures that prove showing games in isolation has a greater effect on average ratings than home teams into home markets

if you look over the rounds
for Saturday and Sunday matches..
day and night on FTA

S.A and W.A Home teams shown on FTA double the count of other teams playing..
that are not from the home state.

which would be normal..

that is why AFL show 2 games at once at various times in the round..

the AFL do not want a National figure of a Suns/Lions Game rating... (as it would be very poor.
so they sub it with a better game Port v Eagles going live on FTA into Home states.
than combine the two together...

You to make out that head to head matches are the only true indicator. Here is a situation where all teams play , not just the better ones. So this is a true head to head comparison. And It has the NRL winning the vast majority of the time.
But, But, But.

I know why they show two games at once

The question is, does this produce a greater net benefit given showing two games concurrently splits the market in half so the averages per game are lower?

The evidence suggests it doesnt. Rounds where home markets are not targeted but games are shown in isolation get a far higher average per game.

Errr because one game v one game is a comparison of the same conditions? Comparing every game is not reasonable because most games are shown under very different conditions. How many times does this need to be explained?

This is why I asked when was the last time the NRL had an audience over 1m for a home and away game. This includes all your Thursday and Friday games, which undoubtedly involve many of your better teams. We had 2 games over 1m only last weekend.

Yes, our Friday games favour better performing teams, but so do your thursday and Friday games, so complaining it's unfair is BS.

Yes we have some average rating teams in the suns, and lions, but that doesnt mean we have a smaller following on TV overall. These are poorly performing teams in expansion markets, so their modest following is hardly surprising. If the NRL had any similar teams we'd be able to compare, but they dont. All but 1 of your Australian teams are heartland, and your expansion team has been outrageously successful on field.

They were shown under exactly the same conditions! All teams play, unlike your marque Friday night events.

That has completely fuck all to do with it, but it was round 10! before the commence of our Origion Season were got 3.4 million, 3.2m a couple of weeks latter and over 3m again in just over a week.

Waffle on all you like, but there have been many STV matches , All team playing under almost identical conditions and you've lost nearly all.

 BS! Showing 15 hours of footy to you 6hours on Saturday is not the same conditions! Showing most of our games against each other is not the same conditions. In fact you couldnt get much different!

Well done, you got big ratings for your seasons biggest games! :drunk: How is that in any way comparable?

STV is the least comparable! It's based on subscription rates for each supporter group. The AFL are also required to show games on 2 fox channels, many at the same time, and many against each other.

You keep on complaining about single match comparisons because we dont show our bottom few teams, yet last weekend our game involving a team down near the bottom of the ladder outrated your game which had 2 finalsist! But but but but but
