The AFL GF rated more than SOO in Australia? Gold

The AFL also rated better in Weatherall park also - what your point? Or just more cherry picking. Overall though origin had the highest ratings.

The point i guess is that in australia the afl ground final was more popular than origin based on ratings.

Do we count south african ratings for super 12

Do we count ratings in india when australia play india in the cricket in australia in the one day domestic competetion.

If yoi are using ratings to gauge or boast popularity in australia then people watching in new zealand fo not factor.

If you want to find out how popular a show or game is in weatheral park you would only want to count those people from weatheral park. If you want to know about australasia than sure include nz and pacific islands.

But in australia the afl grand final this year rated more than the soo.

Nice one, great to have someone on board with a subscription to both OzTam and RegionalTAM. :)))

Do you get all the regional AFL tv ratings during they H&A season as we often do not get to see those numbers published and it would be good to see those numbers added to the AFL tally throughout the season.

My subscription with OzTam is on a monthly basis (somewhat expensive) & eMails me 5 city metro ratings of every program from 2am to 2am. It includes market shares, demographic shares and weekly totals. Pretty much the only figures I don't have access to are 'peaks' (which are usually provided by the networks, which I can post) & other demographics outside the key ones (such as males, females, main grocery buyers, etc).

My subscription with RegTAM is east coast aggregate only on a monthly basis. It pretty much gives me as per the OzTam arrangement, except there's no demographics of course with regional & again no peaks. The biggest thing is I don't get access to Regional WA with this arrangement (I have to find it when available on the RegTAM website).

But yeah, if anyone wants a figure for a program or you want a press release from a network, let me know :)

I find TV ratings very interesting & Nielsen Australia is one of the most accurate TAM services in the world! With precise market catchments and specific panels (peoplemeters) to reflect different populations and viewing habits.

So when you see that the AFL Grand Final rated over 3 million (for example), it realistically, probably 90-100% did :)

Everything is so different now though, with "Consolidated - 7 Day" (DVR recordings - figures released exactly a week later) & "28 Day Consolidated" [new this year - OzTam only] (DVR recordings - figures released on top of 7 Day, exactly 28 days later). Making programs overnight ratings go up.

--

Other interesting stats:

AFL rates an average of ~30k in Sydney & Brisbane on 7Mate, many games get a lot higher though, this year up to 70-80k for big Sydney Swans home and away games.

Those figures for a multi-channel for a single market are very good.

NRL is a lot more unsuccessful, with less than ~10k average for games in Melbourne & almost non-existant for games in Adelaide & Perth.

Finals and Grand Finals not included, they're always massive.

Again, it's great to have you here Sportfan. I do hope you can share with us the hard to find ratings esp. regional ratings for the AFL through your subscriptions. Wookie will love you. :thumbleft:

Fingers crossed Channel 7 see the potential of moving Swans and Giants games to their primary channel. It's always baffled me why they pay so much for the tv rights yet do so little to promote their coverage and broadcasts in the growing NSW market.

No worries :)

Here's a sample for anyone interested:

The highest-rating home and away game (excluding Anzac Day) was Hawthorn vs. Adelaide at the MCG in Round 5.

766k metro overnight (608k in Melbourne + Adelaide alone on main channel).

Regional ratings for that game:

•QLD: n/a (multi-channel)
•Nth NSW: n/a (multi-channel)
•Sth NSW: n/a (multi-channel)
•VIC: 140k
•Tasmania: 59k
•Regional WA: 30k

Do South Africa pay to broadcast RL? Do South Africa play in the NRL? No and no.

Do NZ pay to broadcast RL? Do NZ play in the NRL? Yes and Yes.
