I went last season and the Giants fans definitely sounded much louder yesterday. They have an exciting team on field. Hopefully crowds continue to build.Fred wrote: Mon Mar 10, 2025 9:48 amIt also seemed to me to be a decent GWS crowd - better than last year I thought when it seemed overwhelmingly Collingwood fans.

what a clueless monga you are fwed
that hastily moved game , would have got over 30K in QLD
whats interesting is that
the grants again fudged their crowd , by about 5K
nothing new there ..
& 10K of them were from Mongbourne

the fumbling game
the narrowest supporter base of any sport I know

Re: Footy Crowds - 2025
Round 1 of the 2025 NRL season was attended by 145,288 including 45,209 attendees in Las Vegas for the season opener, this figure is down 21% on the 183,554 that attended the season opening round in 2024, and is the lowest opening round since 2022.
This is in part due to the moving of the Dolphins game from Brisbane to Sydneys Commbank Stadium at short notice. The Dolphins played the Cowboys at Suncorp last year in Round 1 for 32,477 (last year the Souths game was at Redcliffe), so moving to Commbank where it drew over 6,000 is a definitve impact on the total.

Re: Footy Crowds - 2025
An abbreviated Opening Round was held this year by the AFL as the very real threat posted by Cyclone Alfred caused the moving of both Queensland games to other rounds and times.
In NSW, however both matches went ahead with the Swans and Hawks drawing 40,310 (up 1% on 2024s Swans/Dees) to the SCG, while the Giants and Magpies pulled 19,248 (down 9% on 2024) to Engie Stadium.
The Total AFL attendance for Opening Round was 59,558, down 3% in 2024s NSW Opening Round total of 61,247. This may have been due in part to the Giants being fixtured on Sunday afternoon in Sydney, as opposed to Saturday night.
