Still think most ex pats in Seq would have Foxtel so they can watch their team every week.

Yeah I agree. Same in Sydney. Let’s also not forget that Saturday AFL games involving the Swans, Giants, Lions and Suns are shown on delay on Channel 7 until Round 11 - as part of the new broadcast deal. These Saturday games being exclusive to Fox Footy/Kayo.

It is disappointing that the idea of Opening Round is supposed to be the promotion of the game in NSW and QLD, yet today/tonight, the Giants vs Hawks and Lions vs Bulldogs will be shown on delay into Sydney and Brisbane on 7mate.

Still, all that aside, it’s very encouraging to see both the AFL Origin and Opening Round smashing the super hyped up NRL in Vegas in the tv ratings on free to air this year. We have no Fox Footy tv ratings as yet but I suspect they are also up for the AFL.

Friday 6 March

1 SEVEN’S AFL: FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL Seven 1,951,000 608,000 110,000

3 FRIDAY NIGHT NRL LIVE Nine 1,655,000 736,000 202,000

In other tv ratings news….

The tv ratings for the NRL in Vegas are diabolical. A pitiful 12,000 for the English Super League game, then 6,000 and 2,000 for the NRL games. Good grief lol

How embarrassing considering all the hype. Bet we won’t see the Sydney NRL journos reporting this. 🤣
