Am I missing Something?

The media are running around like chooks with there heads - bitterly disappointed because the situation doesn't seem to be as bad as they'd first hoped. Talking bankruptcy and god knows what else. But as far as I can see, the players of both codes have agreed to, or will agree to take big pay cuts. No code will make any money but when we resume it will be business as usual. Am I missing anything here?

Think the big worry is losing $$$ from non broadcast of matches
Plus
Game day takings
Memberships..will they refund or hope that fans will donate towards clubs
Sponsorship $$$ .

Each week it goes on is more $$ lost

...

Yes sponsorship , I hadn't thought about that.

But doesn't the other just mean that there will be no money coming in and nothing going out.

There’s always money going out. There are still numerous expenses to pay from loan repayments, utilities, salaries still, rent, insurance...... but no revenue unless you have another revenue stream and even those have been in like in pubs and clubs not open. There’s also no corporate coming in and businesses likely can’t afford to just wear it. Also contracts with caterers and other businesses that make money on the day ... they may have recourse to reclaim the money they pay for the right to operate at a venue.
