Here's a game... if you were good enough at RL how many teams would you be able to choose from to play in?

ENGLAND, FRANCE, IRELAND, SCOTLAND, WALES, JAMAICA, PNG are by far majority from origin of country.

This changes when you get to the pacific.
Tonga, Samoa, Fiji, NZ

as the best players play in the NRL.

i do not see an issue in this,

this is like the premier League soccer, the best players in the world play in this comp.
and than come internationals they play for there country.

It all comes from jealousy .
Any international sport that has domestic comps in countries will have players from many countries trying to play in the best domestic comp as that's where the biggest $$$$$$ are .
Where a player can make the most money .

It's not an issue in other sports ...yet the jealous fumblers think it's an issue in Rl .

I know right..
If England had a bigger league the top 100 players would be over there.

It benefits the NRL > with player pool being bigger with many players from many different countries of origin
playing the great game in Australia / NZ

I have no issue with it really. I’m not obsessive about the nrl or the afl for that matter. I actually think it is a smart move by the governing body to be pretty lax with their eligibility criteria as helps grow the game internationally. But it is pretty lax ... and not sure why whether they play in the nrl has anything to do with it.

The nrlwc isn’t much more than a domestic comp
Australia and NZ dominate severa minnow nations, that are still filled with several b grade nrl players!

The last nrlolwc final played in Australia couldn’t even sell Suncorp out

most of the reasons are the same...

they have Tongan Parents both 100% Tongan who were born in NZ or Tonga
and immigrated to Australia. but the child was born in Australia..

Under the rules, he is eligible for Australia as he was born here or Tonga as his parents are Tongan

now in theory he is 100% Tongan blood, but an Australian Citizen because he was born here..

same goes for PNG SAMOA FIJI Cook Islands
and the players that play for these countries some are born there some are born here..

Listen, it doesn't really matter in the larger scheme of things -but I thought it went back to grandparents? But either way - you can have a bloke playing for two countries in a short space of time. I think you should have to choose like most other sports - or go through a process. But, in saying that, i see why they do this and I think it actually adds to the growth of the game.

yes grandparents, but this mostly only occurs on a small scale.

you don't see a white guy playing for TONGA or SAMOA.

PANGAI JUNIOR > just committed to TONGA over NSW & Australia.
