Ill bear this in mind next time i hear the phrase "afl stadium" mentioned, cause if it aint Docklands its either council or government owned and multi use.

I agree>> i do not disagree with any AFL stadiums that have been Updated or built.

we just seem to have "people" up in arms with Sydney stadiums getting built or updated.

Sydney media has people up in arms over it too. This didnt happen in other states.

The big problem for mine is you have the SCG, and three rectangular stadiums looking for upgrade rebuild cash, whereas other states built an oval and host almost everything on it, or had minimal tax payer involvement. I think more than anything else its the THREE rectangular stadiums when two of them are barely filled, one of which is only 20 years old.

Perth - spent 160m total on NIB and $995m on Perth stadium (and replaced a stadium built in 1977)
Adelaide - $535m on Adelaide Oval (replacing a stadium built in 1974), no money for rectangular stadium since Hindmarsh was upgraded for Sydney Olympics.
Melbourne - $105m in taxpayer funded upgrades to the MCG - most as part of the Commonwealth Games upgrade for 2004, 260m for Aami Park, 250m for Docklands - which includes 20 years of Grand Finals paid for up front.
Sydney - $2.5b in taxpayer funding for 3 rectangular stadiums, plus the funds to upgrade the SCG and Spotless in the last 9 years. ANZ is less than a year older than Docklands.

ANZ Stadium will undergo a facelift after next year's State of Origin series, handing the Sydney Cricket Ground the rights to at least the 2020 NRL grand final during construction.

The Sydney Cricket Ground will host grand final day in 2020 with the NRL in discussion with the NSW Government about locking in the next two grand finals after that.

The new stadium at Moore Park is expected in early 2022 and could be in line to host the grand final that year.
