Manly boost as Brookvale Oval set for $35 million upgrade

FINALLY, after a 30-year wait, Brookvale Oval is poised to be saved.

The neglected and ageing ground on the northern beaches’ Pittwater Road is on the verge of being given a $35 million state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence, including a new 3000-seat grandstand.

https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport ... 33924439a2
and how much will the NRLOL club contribute? their owners, the league club the nrlol? Nothing like usual!
just think if every major code in australia got club grounds and facilities got built paid for by the tax payer?
happens in the NRL?
and another sport :-k :-k
Again, the NRL are not the sole users of Brookvale,
it is a council ground, yes this 35mill upgrade will benefit the NRL SIDE>

Ill bear this in mind next time i hear the phrase "afl stadium" mentioned, cause if it aint Docklands its either council or government owned and multi use.
I agree>> i do not disagree with any AFL stadiums that have been Updated or built.

we just seem to have "people" up in arms with Sydney stadiums getting built or updated.

Excatly .
I have no problems with stadia upgrades .AFL or Rectangle
Besides the sporting tenants It attracts other events
Overseas sports ..rock concerts ..even boxing etc

As you say
People ( lol there's only one) have a major issue with Syd stadia upgrades .
It's the massive hypocrisy that has resulted in page after page of the same rot .

Sydney media has people up in arms over it too. This didnt happen in other states.

The big problem for mine is you have the SCG, and three rectangular stadiums looking for upgrade rebuild cash, whereas other states built an oval and host almost everything on it, or had minimal tax payer involvement. I think more than anything else its the THREE rectangular stadiums when two of them are barely filled, one of which is only 20 years old.

Perth - spent 160m total on NIB and $995m on Perth stadium (and replaced a stadium built in 1977)
Adelaide - $535m on Adelaide Oval (replacing a stadium built in 1974), no money for rectangular stadium since Hindmarsh was upgraded for Sydney Olympics.
Melbourne - $105m in taxpayer funded upgrades to the MCG - most as part of the Commonwealth Games upgrade for 2004, 260m for Aami Park, 250m for Docklands - which includes 20 years of Grand Finals paid for up front.
Sydney - $2.5b in taxpayer funding for 3 rectangular stadiums, plus the funds to upgrade the SCG and Spotless in the last 9 years. ANZ is less than a year older than Docklands.
you mean the dipshits from sydney people are insecure who tent do over hype things! all those billions spent on stadiums over the years get so insecure when another state get a new stadium the bandwagon begins!

what code like the nrl has had the luxury of grounds and stadiums build for use for individual or league use & had the opportunity to barter better deals?

the NRLOL has a billion dollar contract for tv revenue & clubs had access to poker machine revenue decades before any other state did yet still never contribute anything !

what fottball code or state has had any better conditions than the NRL or Sydney

Round & round .the hypocrisy is astounding .
& that's the whole argument here.
If afl posters didn't start threads about how bad it is to Be spending $$$ on rectangle stadia in the northern states then the RL / soccer posters would not need to reply .
What it boils down to
Afl get $$$ on stadia ..no,prob
Other football codes in other states .,it's the end of the world .

So much hypocrisy

if Olympic Park was built for rectangle Events,
there would be no need for an upgrade. but it is not.

SCG to host NRL grand final after ANZ refurbishment

ANZ Stadium will undergo a facelift after next year's State of Origin series, handing the Sydney Cricket Ground the rights to at least the 2020 NRL grand final during construction.

The NRL told club chief executives and chairs at a meeting in Sydney on Wednesday that ANZ Stadium would be out of action after next year's Origin series opener at the Olympic venue.

It will leave the Bulldogs and Rabbitohs searching for a new home for the second half of the season, but also the NRL for its major events.

t's likely the Bulldogs and Rabbitohs will play the majority of their home games in the first half of the year and are expected to take most of their remaining games to Bankwest Stadium.

ANZ Stadium, which will be transformed into a 70-75,000 seat rectangular facility, will be out of action until the start of the 2023 NRL season.

The Sydney Cricket Ground will host grand final day in 2020 with the NRL in discussion with the NSW Government about locking in the next two grand finals after that.

The new stadium at Moore Park is expected in early 2022 and could be in line to host the grand final that year.

Build new venues and the crowds will come!

We all know what the result will be just must but buts
But for the idiot league fans the new parramatta venue is just another prime example

The AFL upgraded Adelaide oval and the crows saw an instant rise of 15k per game, 4k more than they had ever averaged. The Power saw a rise of 20k per game, 9k more then they had ever averaged.

When the new Perth stadium was built the Eagles average crowd rose by 17k, 13k more than ever, and the dockers by 9k, 4k more than ever.

Parramatta's crowd average has risen but by less that 1k from their 2014 season, and their average appears to be dropping already.

One code appears to appreciate improve facilities, showing the benefit of a good investment. The other code not so much

Crowds for Parramatta for the 4 games played at new stadium are

29.5k
26k
16k
21k

going on previous years that is def a lift from the old parra stadium>>
currently sitting = 8th

i think Parra going forward can hold an average of around 20k
