of course it's relevant. Many talented and athletic players in lower leagues bust their gut to play AFL and dont make it.
Yes pal. Once again 100% correct. It's just that ppl like the yankee ladies university b/ball training partner is apparently much better than 'em lololololololololol!!!!!!!!!
amazingly, Australia doesnt have an endless supply of 6'10" athletes who can compete in aussie rules. Many are lost to basketball. If Cox wasnt a unique size he wouldnt compete and therefore wouldnt play. Similar with AFL players making kickers in the NFL. They have no experience in the game but can dominate in that position with minimal training. These are specific roles where their size or skills make them competitive.
I hate to say it pal.........but you're incorrect again!!!!! It is nothing like NFL kickers. All they do is run on kick the ball and run off. They're the lowest paid least thought of part of the team. Whereas ladies b/ball trainer played most of the games he played. And dominated apparently. Something he couldn't do with the ladies lolololololololol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whatayagot next pal lolololol!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes its a lot like it. Players as tall as Cox are required to mark the ball and tap it to advantage of his team mates. He has a limited role suited to someone his height who has some athletic ability.

BTW he played college ball with minimal training or experience. In a country as basketball obsessed as the US thats impressive

Well let's see. As a teenager he was part of his school's state championship winning soccer team, despite his size. This suggests he has good mobility and endurance. He wasnt even playing basketball, only helping coach a woman's team when he was recruited as a walk up start for Oklahoma colleague basketball side in the same league as Embiid, an NBA star.

https://tulsaworld.com/sportsextra/osus ... 84164.html
Similar to how he never played basketball until attending OSU but wound up joining the team as a 6-foot-11 reserve who contributed late in his final season, Cox was unfamiliar with Australian football until two years ago but has excelled in the sport because of his height and his background as a youth soccer player.

Cox was downplaying his performance. During his six second-half minutes, he was the most productive player on the court — a field goal, a block, a steal and three rebounds, plus an energy unmatched by the team's scholarship reserve big men this season. "He does that stuff all the time in our practices when he's going up against big guys," Phil Forte said. "He finally got a chance to show off what he can bring to the table when the lights are on."
Because of his heavy course load, Cox participates in only 60-65 percent of practices. He will graduate in May with a degree in mechanical engineering and has accepted a job with ExxonMobil in Houston.

So he didnt play basketball until colleague, trains only just over half the sessions, walks in as a centre in a major colleague team, and makes an impact in a level just below NBA.

Yeah, the guy has no athletic ability at all LOL

Skilled sports have a crossbar to get over or under
.
They also don’t have “you nearly were successful” posts .

You don’t know your football history.
Soccer started with no crossbar.
And several other Football games that led to rugby didn’t either.
Crossbars originated to substitute for the top of doors that were the original “goals” In most village and school football games.

But did any of these villages have crossbars that reward you for trying really, really hard?

Yes, if you tried really, really hard and got a try....you’d get a chance at trying for a goal.

if you fell just short of the try line tho , the primary objective .... you don't get anything

unlike that silly absurdity you follow lol

If the ball doesn’t go over the goal line in Australian rules there is no score either.

The goal line for rugby league is 68 metres, crossing that gives Rugby their highest score.

The Australian rules goal is 6.4 metres.

Rugby seems to need a lot of room to score.
And initially tries had no points value.
Field goals and goals from marks were the ways to score the highest points until changed and/or abolished.
Why the change?
Much easier having a “goal” of crossing a 68 metre line than actually scoring a real goal.

:hmm: I don't know what the Answer is, if you took away there 'Nearly posts' you would see a lot of scoreless draws.

A try line yes but now the goal of the game. A very wide “goal”
I wonder is changing the goal posts a rugby term?
