I'm sure Gilty is working on a plan to make these basket case clubs can be competitive so that their ratings are not test pattern like .
& by a plan I mean the old Aflol plan of rigging the comp to ensure the success of these clubs .
Maybe then they will be able to climb out of the bottomless money pit they are in

They already pay massively more money to the Suns and GWS. The biggest problem they have is retaining players. No young bloke wants to live and play in an area where they are unknown and basically anonymous.

There's not much Gilty can do about that. Their draft advantages have stopped and with players now leaving in droves their gonna find it hard to compete. And we all know the way good 'ol Sydney town treats losers. If GWS drops out of the 8 next year no BS membership figures or creative accounting with crowds is gonna help them. They'll be a laughing stock more than they already are!!!!!

Dunno about half ..but the two added teams are not providing the extra viewers .
In fact ratings are going backwards ..so I can't see them getting a deal as big as te last one

Like most other TV programs world-wide, including major sports like the NFL and EPL, viewers are gradually declining overall. Whether this translates to a decrease in media rights is yet to be seen.

Except RL of course. Depending on who you listen to RL was either steady compared to last season or slightly up. The average drop worldwide was 7%. AFL plummeted 13%. Them's the facts!!!!!

RL did very well to hold steady last year in the face of industry-wide ratings decreases. The AFL's ratings were certainly soft last season, signifying changes are needed in rules to combat defensive play. However, they were also hit significantly by being relegated to 7mate because channel 7 held broadcasting rights to the commonwealth games

Do we have average figures for Pre Comm games and Prior to Comm Games.
Excluding the rounds where AFL was sent to 7mate.
( i think it was 2/3 Rounds affected.)

How much was the decrease in figures after taking this out ?

Lol
For arguments sake
I'm a afl fan ....
This week the comm games are on .
What do I do when I turn the tv on & I see that ch 7 is not broadcasting the afl on 7 .

Do I
A..stare blankly at the tv watching sports I have little interest in ?
B..stare blankly at the remote wishing I knew how to use one so I could check CH 7s other channels .
C..turn tv off & vent on a forum .
D..all of the above as it appears I'm too stupid to use a remote .?

You must have a learning disability. No matter how many times you are told you still cant get your head around the fact every program's ratings are made up of core fans, fringe fans, and channel surfers. The core fans will still tune in no matter what. The rest may not if an uncommon event like he commonwealth games is on.
