Looks like its time to review this. Sydney have been impressive in their last two games......even if they have had comfortable leads whittled away before final siren. I'll take Freo and Carlton out of the list of teams that will finish higher than them......and add in Hawthorn. They may sneak a top four position but there's a lot of competition for those 4 spots. You never know.rosize wrote:..........Carlton, WCE, Freo, Collingwood, Geelong and Essendon will probably finishe above them.
Whoops! I forgot to include the Crows who are whjipping them at this very moment.

I don't know, Rosize. Sydney did their best to lose that on Friday night. They were lucky they found something to get over the line and only just. And Geelong are not playing well at all at the moment.

Re: Swans - Top 4?
They did seem to try and lose the game TLPG but what about the first quarter? All the top four sides would have struggled to hold sydney in that quarter and it really layed the foundations for their win. I think we have to credit sydney's ability to pressure and cramp good teams style of play. I'd say top 4 = collingwood, sydney, adelaide and westcoast.

Re: Swans - Top 4?
No I disagree, because good sides do not win matches with one quarter. Sydney will not beat genuine top contenders with just one quarter.

Re: Swans - Top 4?
After last nights loss for the Pies, if the Swans win today against the Lions they will be on top of the ladder. Perhaps we need to reassess the topic of this thread.

Re: Swans - Top 4?
I'm still not convinced despite the fact that the Swans are indeed on top now. Everyone is being inconsistent (Carlton's win is a case in point as is West Coast's close call), and it will still make for an interesting run home from now to September 1 and 2.

This weekend's roadtrip to the West is the best test the Swannies could ask for. I think they'll pass the test.......but will they win or go down by less than a goal??

Re: Swans - Top 4?
The win should turn the heads of the naysayers but we must remember the westcoast lineup were seriously depleted today. Even so lewis jetta is fairly unstoppable and if reid starts to hit form at the end of the season i think the swannies can comfotably take out the premiership this year and next.

Yes. Wouldn't read too much into last week's loss by WCE. Bet they give the Croes a shake with 3 good players back in the side. They seem to give Adelaide something to worry about when they visit Adelaide town.

Re: Swans - Top 4?
The Swans have only 2 hard (Collingwood and Hawthorn) games coming up in the last 7 games of the regular season. They should beat St Kilda the Suns and Western Bulldogs. Carlton and Geelong are the ones they have to win to be assured of a top 4 spot . They should scrape in.

Geelong at Skilled Stadium in the last round wont be easy for the Swans.MarkZZZ wrote:The Swans have only 2 hard (Collingwood and Hawthorn) games coming up in the last 7 games of the regular season. Re: Swans - Top 4?
Not sure whether moving it to the G would swans or cats TLPG. Which do you think? I know hawthorne westcoast look pencilled in for the G that weekend, as do richmond port and collingwood essendon. Would they prioritise swans geelong over one of them?
