Post by Beaussie »

Well done Suns. Good to see another victory and in front of a sellout crowd in Cairns. :thumbleft:

From:Herald Sun

GOLD Coast have all but killed off Richmond's finals aspirations and won over AFL fans in north Queensland with an upset 15-point victory at Cazaly Stadium.

Nice on suns, think i tipped em too. But 11000 is hardly a good crowd, they would have gotten more in Alice Springs.

Perhaps Cairns is League Heartland after all?

I mean the stadium must be tiiiiiny in Cairns. Traeger Park, in a town of only 30,000 odd people holds way more...

Wrong, Queen E! Cairns holds 12K. Alice Springs holds 10K!

In 2004, an Australian Football League AFL Regional Challenge between Collingwood Football Club and Port Adelaide Football Club attracted a sell-out crowd of 10,000.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traeger_Park
So KE, the NT Government don't even know how much capacity their own stadium holds?
Traeger Park

Address - Speed Street, Alice Springs

Uses - AFL football, cricket, major events

Facilities - grandstand (capacity 10,000), lights, toilets, change rooms, canteen

Poor ole Richmond. I had such high hopes for them this year. They still don't have enough high quality players to match it with even the average teams. Maybe next year?

They promise so much every season. The only thing they seem to be consistent on is missing the finals. I feel sorry for Richmond fans.
