The transformation of the Brisbane RNA Showgrounds is set to move from planning to construction, with works on the $287.5 million redevelopment to begin immediately after this year's Ekka.

The project marks the first major construction phase of the Brisbane Showgrounds' role in the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, while also delivering a long-term upgrade to one of Queensland's most iconic event precincts.

Construction will commence following the conclusion of the Ekka, with demolition of the Machinery Hill grandstand and enabling works scheduled to begin in late August and September.

At the heart of the redevelopment is a new 20,000-seat Main Arena, which will become a modern venue capable of hosting the Ekka, boutique sporting events, concerts and major entertainment long after the 2032 Games.

The upgraded Showgrounds will also become closely integrated with the neighbouring Victoria Park Precinct, which includes the new Brisbane Stadium and National Aquatic Centre. Together, the projects will create one of Australia's largest connected sporting, entertainment and events precincts.

While the RNA Showgrounds has long been synonymous with the Ekka, the redevelopment significantly expands its long-term role. The new Main Arena will be capable of hosting boutique AFL and cricket matches, concerts and other major events, complementing Brisbane's larger venues while providing a modern multi-purpose facility in the heart of the city.
this got me thinking...

2nd AFL club
BRISBANE 2 at the Showground and big games at VIC PARK

Makes sense - but I think Springwood would be the venue of any next team - out that way. Long-term - definitely re: third team
that is certainty another location..

Will the LIONS be moving there Headquarters closer to VIC PARK once they start playing there do you know ?
