Big Freeze

Post by Fred »

Nice to see the annual Big Freeze event going off well yesterday. It is always good to see such a big institution like the AFL get behind such a worthwhile cause. I also noted that they had the guy from the NRL who had retired due to contracting NMD present and tossing the coin. I wonder if they can make this day and fund raising even bigger by having the NRL also doing such an event - would be good as a nationwide thing covering both codes. I think this is a good idea and hopefully the young man from the NRL can maybe take over from Neil as ambassador - growing the reach of the campaign.

On a sort of side note, I think it is good this sticks out - and stands alone as a cause - I wonder if there are far too many that dilutes the effectiveness of such days - but they all seem to raise a fair bit of money - not too sure about raising awareness - as think public can get a bit fatigued with all the different causes and matches.

would be a good nationwide event.. it good idea really between the codes.

though QLD does not have a Public Holiday on that day, which kinda defeats it for the NRL side of things.

for the AFL this day and event is getting bigger and more exposure year on year

NRL's game is on FOX only (unless things change with new TV rights) in 2028
