Seems i am not alone, many people on my socials seeing this match as contrived and concerned that it will impact their club should a player get injured - for what is obviously a manufactured meaningless event.
True Freddo. The AFL is just jealous of the RL version of SOO. They're desperately trying to make it relevant but smart AFL types like yourself can see straight through it. It just ain't gonna cut it when compared to Qld V NSW in RL.

I predict there will be an outcry about player minutes, injuries, clubs not being fair dinkum and a dud game. Fumblehouse should just stop trying to copy the juggernaught of RL SOO and stick to their little suburban comp. You know it makes sense.
the NRL plays in those tiny little stadiums that is struggles to full makes it not much more than that little suburban comp! the CEO PVLs used car salesman look, cheap black wannabe mobster look greased back hair look and bogan uneducated voice constant cry of desperation in gaining attention from the AFL
Yeah........ahhhhh.................another one hard to decipher makingstupideasy. You will need to improve your grammar and syntax pal. Punctuation is also important if you want to converse successfully in a modern society. Maybe a tutor is in order. I'm willing to chip in pal. PM me.

If I am home may switch it on. I am sure players will be instructed to not go in too hard - but often the natural game comes out anyway - but I would not be surprised if there is some manufactured mallee of sorts.

I can tell you, as an AFL fan in QLD it has hardly made any waves - very few mentions. I don't even know who the teams are apart from N Dacos and the sun's backman Sam Collins. I didn't even know what time it was on - thought at night but apparently during the day sometime.

i can back you up there, as a resident of the Gold Coast
have heard absolute zero, even at my cricket club which it has some AFL fans, there just not interested in it at all..

they pretty much say it will not be anywhere as good as NRL SOO or compare.

I will give it a watch though, see how it all goes... not expecting much..

they will want a close match for it to get traction for future games.

Extra loud crowd noise and screaming from the commentators to build the excitement in what will be a rather lacklustre atmosphere

gave the 1st quarter a watch and the 4th quarter a decent watch..

WA CROWD PATROTIC Seemed Loud
VICTROIANS in 2nd Gear.. no way near as much passion.

was a soft contest, with defence barley a thing.

its the kinda of contest if this was revesed and played at MCG
VICTORIA win by 100

i give a pass mark however >> 1st game in almost 30 years (you can only build from here)

From all reports it went down ok. Good crowd. Not an absolute blowout score. TV ratings fair. Probably should keep it in the pre-season. It's never gonna match the RL version but at least its something different to the incessant H &A season for the fumble fans.

Watched a little when got home - the standard was pretty good I thought - good seeing Gawn, to Daicis, Dangerfield etc. But was an exhibition match that’s all - no real passion or strong vibes re: win at all costs type thing.

you would want the Standard of play to be quite high lol being that it had some of the best playing
but 100% agree... was very little passion >> the passion from the crowd drove the WA boys
but win at all costs body on the line contact hits etc etc was very little.

but as a EXHIBATION match it still has its place. and could achieve good figures down the track.

I watched Origin at a Sydney Swans pub with mates. Pub was packed with Swans regulars who go meet there to watch away games, finals and grand finals. Was a great atmosphere in the pub with virtually everyone cheering loudly for WA and in particular whenever Chad Warner got the ball. I thought the standard of play was great and not kick n giggle rubbish that a lot of people were predicting.

Would love to see an origin festival with all states involved like back in the day. Still remember NSW beating VIC at the SCG. 👍

That sounds interesting beatup. A packed Sydney pub in February full of AFL fans going off about a state game not involving NSW. I'd have loved to be there to witness that pal lolololololol!!!!!!!!!!! Got any pics?????

Let me know next time there is a happening like this at your pub - I'd love to be there to see it.
