In Round 2 of the 2019 NRL season, 9Now reported 3.6 million LIVE VPM minutes streamed (up 101% compared to last years R2). This includes a 95% increase in actual stream starts compared to R2 2018.

AFL Streaming

According to the 2018 Annual Report, streaming of live matches through the AFL Live app grew by 13 per cent to more than 450 million minutes compared with 2017. The League reported more than 1.6 million Live Pass Subscribers.
This is the equivalent of 7.5 million hours, or 2.5 million full matches, and works out to about 12,000 viewers per full match.

NRL Streaming

Telstra reported that the NRL Official App delivered almost 400 million minutes of exciting rugby league action to a fan base that grew by an incredible 60 per cent this year. With 540,000 NRL Live Pass subscribers reported in 2017, this would give about 860,000 Live Pass subscriptions in 2018. This works out to around 6.7 million hours, about the same as 3.3 million matches and about 16,000 viewers per full match.

Or are those numbers flawed to sports capital.?

So the AFL had 1.6 million live pass subscribers to the NRL's 860k?

The AFL also had 7.5 mil hours compared to the NRL's 6.7 million hours?

Yes! ????????????????????? the operative word being grew.
The NRL didn't sell all there streaming rights to Telstra. Nor did they begin streaming at the same time.

AFL 12,000 viewers per match , NRL 16,000 viewers per match  This is like tv ratings with none of the but but but excuses

And a NRL game goes for just 90m or 1.5 hours. So that should read 4.5million matches not 3.3m. Wow, Another of the many areas than the NRL lead the way :thumbleft:

of course you grew fastergiven you number of subscribers was so far behind. It's like how the NRL membership numbers are growing at a comparable rate to the AFL, yet we continue to get more member per year because 10% of 800 k is far more than 10% of 200k
AFL 12,000 viewers per match , NRL 16,000 viewers per match  This is like tv ratings with none of the but but but excuses
Wow, a staggering 4000 viewers per game. We average more than 16000 extra viewers watching every game AT THE GROUND!

And a NRL game goes for just 90m or 1.5 hours. So that should read 4.5million matches not 3.3m. Wow, Another of the many areas than the NRL lead the way :thumbleft:
which is completely misleading given AFL games overlap so viewers cannot watch 2 games at the same time.

Fact is the AFL have far more subscribers and was watched for more minutes :\:

The reason the AFL has more streaming is simple and straight forward but well over your head. Channel 9 own the streaming rights for there matches and the AFL Telstra deal started before the NRL's

How long was the AFL's streaming deal out before the NRL's? That's like me complaining the NRL was on STV before the AFL.

We are talking about a difference of 4k per game which is not even a single ratings box. In the context of games rating over 1mil they are basically irrelevant at the moment.

As for the minutes of streaming, just because I'm an AFL fan doesnt mean I mysteriously have an extra 11 hours a weekend watching the AFL (27 hours vs 16 hours). I have a certain amount of free time and watch AFL when I can. This is the issue with cumulative ratings. My 15 hours viewing of AFL over the weekend is only counted as 5 games while for you it's over 7 games.

minutes watched, comes down to accessibility to watch games & scheduling again
afl has games that over lap & nrlol does not
some games are shown exclusively
nrlol fans might have their tv privileges suspended but still have a mobile phone to view games on

regardless of minutes watched. AFL has double the subscribers :)))

Overlap?.... :(/ :(/ :(/ Give us a break! C9 hold the steaming rights for there matches . Meaning the NRL only has 4 or 5 matches that can be streamed by Telstra each week.

and because of AFL's overlapping schedule only 5 -6 AFL games can be streamed by the one user per round
