You would think that if the giants weren’t playing in the act amd doing well and indeed, better, there than in weste Sydney, that the AFL would plonk a team there already to go in or around the time Tassie come on board. It’s a perfect time to strike - but I feel they have nobbled themselves with GWS. To be honest- the simple easier decision would be to admit they stuffed up with the implementation of gws and move them lock stick and barrel to Canberra - however longterm - and the much more challenging decision, is to persist in the huge market, still untapped, of western Sydney. To do the later though would require a big change of direction and focus for gws. The first thing would becoming more attuned to the working class roots of the area.

western Sydney is Huge though and only exploding in population>> 2.9mill at the moment..

Sydney Swans have never been popular in the west..

i just could not see the AFL giving up on 3 million people and growing

however a ACT Team is only a matter of time...
Especially considering Wagga Wagga and Albury are close by bringing in even more fans

Wagga is as close as Campbelltown is to Canberra

Albury is closer to derpbourne then it is to Canberra
they come to a game or 2 each year , thats it

a fulltime fumbles & stumbles ACT team is ... NEVER .. happening

I agree. Concentrate on western sydney AND put a side in canberra.
There are lies, damn lies and then there are ratings.
Rugby league, Australias most popular game in some of North Eastern Australia.

it would be how Cowboys Operate alot of fans travel to the game or book a getaway to go to the game.

Neighbouring populations being 2 or 3 hours away would do this (only in Canberra)

why would someone in Albury travel to Canberra to watch the stumbles & fumbles at Manuka
when they can watch it in Dumbourne at the MCG which is closer

thats the only elite football in Nth QLD too , theres plenty of options down this way.
like i said'
a game or 2 a year , thats it for Riverina fans & they'd be going to watch the away team mainly too , as they do now. There is no connect there,
Canberra is not the Riverina.

plus won't ever happen ,
Canberra is stuck with 3 games of derps & misse a years & thats ... more then enough

GIO stadium will be the centre of the sporting universe for the " region " today & further afield
Fans coming from everywhere to watch the NRL's top of the table clash in YOUR nations capital today

all ports in the Riverina
the South Coast as far away as Eden
Orange , Bathurst , Cowra

the mark they're looking to beat is 25,253 setting a new Raiders regular season home game record crowd
& all indicators are its going to go
The standing room tickets released after the game sold out on Wednesday , lasted just 2 hrs ,
Members have been brow beaten by the club & local media into giving up their seats if they can't attend today , with a portal set up to distribute their seats back for resale
so there are no excuses

huge day
enormous
