Agree, night time is popular for TV which is a reason the AFLs ratings improved. Note they improved in a number of cities, not just Melbourne

Sydney was steady on previous years
Melbourne was up
perth was up (host city so expected.
Adelaide did not change.

Most people in Melbourne have there TV's tunned into c7and due to there inability to use highly technical instruments like remote control devices
they have a much larger presence on FTA and a very piss poor showing on Fox and other streaming devices.

The real facts are clear , Rugby League once again accumulated more ratings then Afl and our entire final series was neck and neck, something that hasn't happend for some time. Also you would have read Roy Morgans latest report, Rugby League has increased its fan numbers by 1million

They improved in Perth, probably due to the GF being taken there.

The finals series was very close , certainly did'nt pan out the way you said Fred. Why would we be making excuses anyrate? we won the 2021 ratings with ease, probably by more than ever. We will leave the But, Buts to you and LOL's and the other fumblers.

You won the most watched single game numbers. Both GF's had massive figures. They will be 1 and 2 for all TV for the year. RL will win the year with ease as the most watched sport in our great land.

I am in Melbourne, have a number of AFL “blokes I know”, none of them thought the night grand final was a “hit”…I agree.
