Their potential new owner states it’s Super League or he is not interested.
There may be another buyer if he pulls out, but it is a growing liability problem to take on....with no guarantee that all of this years travel problems will be sorted by next season.

Toulouse May be a safer 12 team bet.

ok, i actually think its a better bet if Toronto remain in the championship and not the super league for the next few years.
they will most likely be regulated in season 2021 anyways, its too hard for a team so early on to stay out of regulation
with the list size they have and difficulties that will be in place.

Toulouse would be a good replacement.

Should have some idea about 2am tomorrow Melbourne time.
Some thought that the decision will be deferred until next week to give LiVosi a chance at a personal presentation.

From an alleged insider

“So been chasing up on the Toronto Wolfpack submission to rejoin Super League. Numerous sources say:

- LiVolsi won’t give proof of funds unless the club is allowed back in.
- the business plan predicts a four or five-fold increase in gate receipts next year (presumably through increased ticket prices), and merchandising doubling
- predicts a £500,000 equity investment in 2021 and 2022
- is based around £2 million central distribution/Sky money, but that actually will be £1.6 or £1.5 million with the rebate
- and has no Covid-19 contingency or plan.”

If this is true, then there is no hope...SL will not let them back in without proof of funds....
Other aspects are worrying...he will need to be a great salesman.

Current alleged voting:

Decision deferred for 4 weeks...
But it is now a bigger decision than just the wolf pack..

Initial Toronto bid “disappointing” says Elstone as Wolfpack given more time to convince Super League
25th September 2020 James Gordon Super League
Robert Elstone says Toronto’s initial submission for rejoining Super League in 2021 was “frankly disappointing”, and that the Wolfpack can only be pleased to be given the chance to put that right.

At a much anticipated meeting of Super League clubs and executives on Friday, it was decided to give the Canadian club a further four weeks to work on their bid to remain in the competition, after prospective new owner Carlo LiVolsi reached out to ask for more time having acknowledged that the bid fell short.

Elstone said: “What we saw first time was frankly disappointing and what we hope to see is something much more stronger. They can only be pleased to be given that chance to put it right.

“The clubs were open minded enough to say that if you do it right second time, it’s robust and every box is ticked, that they would consider it fairly and objectively at that time.

We had set quite a long list of requirements for the club to fulfil and answer.

“In essence the two principle points were the viability of Super League in Canada, and really there certainly wasn’t enough evidence to support that, and secondly the viability of the club itself through its financial projections and the input of the owner and the funding of the club, and neither of those were answered in sufficient detail.

“LiVolsi admitted it hadn’t had his full attention and that he hadn’t applied the necessary resources to it. He held his hand up, asked for a second chance, and the clubs have taken a fair and reasonable approach and the ball is now in their court to deliver.”

Elstone also confirmed that Super League will do its own work on the commercial viability of Super League in Canada, and whether clubs will be better off at some point in the forseeable future from having a club in Toronto.

They will review the work done by the RFL when admitting Toronto back in 2017, as well as investigating whether any further background work had been done in the process of admitting Ottawa Aces, who are due to join League 1 in 2021, to the professional structure.

He added: “We need to think about the scope of that work, and there is some challenge in doing that. It’s easy to look at the size of Toronto, the wealth of Toronto, the tourist information of the city, the size of the broadcast markets, but we’ve got to make sure that’s relevant to the job in hand.

The accessibility of Toronto Wolfpack to those markets is a lot different to how big those markets are. We will look at similar sports businesses and how they’ve capitalised on opportunities.”

Toronto now have until October 23rd to prepare their updated bid, which chief executive Bob Hunter and LiVolsi will be invited to present, after which time the Super League board and club chiefs will again consider whether the club will form part of the competition in 2021.

Toronto Wolfpack given more time to prove Super League credentials
And the bigger decision

TORONTO WOLFPACK have been given another four weeks to argue their case for a Super League place in 2021 – during which time the competition will look to study further the viability of rugby league in North America.

By The Newsroom
Friday, 25th September 2020, 10:47 pm
The Canadian club pulled out of the competition in July citing financial and visa issues brought on by the coronavirus.

It emerged their owner David Argyle had not paid players for months and their debut season in Super League ended in embarrassment.
However, a prospective new owner Carlo Livolsi has vowed to honour those contracts if the Wolfpack are allowed to be readmitted into the top flight next season.

The other 11 clubs met yesterday to discuss whether or not to welcome them back in but a decision has been deferred.

A Super League statement read: “The Super League Board has given the prospective new owner of Toronto Wolfpack, Carlo Livolsi, a further opportunity to provide detail about his investment plans for the club.

“A 4-week timescale has been allowed.

“This is an important next step in the ongoing, rigorous efforts that have gone into ensuring the viability and financial sustainability of Toronto Wolfpack before the Board decides whether to readmit the club to the competition in 2021.

Whilst that process is taking place, the Board has agreed to take the opportunity, with the help of independent experts and the RFL Chair supporting the Executive Chairman of Super League Europe Ltd, to review the analysis carried out by the Governing Body originally in respect of the viability of rugby league in Canada and North America.

“The group is tasked with updating this historical analysis and will consider Toronto Wolfpack experiences, the recent other club admissions from North America and the impact of Covid-19.”

Ottawa Aces are due to start in League 1 next season, just as Toronto did when they began life in 2017, with New York also hoping to start in 2022.

Super League executive chairman Robert Elstone said: “From the outset, the Super League Board have said consistently that it will provide Toronto Wolfpack with every chance to present the best possible case for a place in the competition next season.

“That process has to be thorough, fair and equitable and today’s decision is a further demonstration of our commitment to ensuring that.

“There were many areas of Wolfpack’s submission to date that required greater clarity and our Clubs felt it was important to hear from Mr Livolsi himself before making an informed, objective decision on the club’s future involvement.

They also believed it to be important that an objective re-assessment should be completed of the value and viability of the growth of rugby league into the North American Market to help advise the Board decision on Toronto.”

I understand that 1 “condition” in the proposal was an immunity from relegation for a period of 3 years. This is similar to the initial Catalan agreement.
I’m sure the actual Submission will leak, but it has been reported it contained a lot of “if’s”.

Total Rugby League
Robert Elstone against Toronto’s return in Super League board meeting
MATTHEW SHAW 27/09/2020

Robert Elstone was among those who was against Toronto Wolfpack being allowed back into Super League at Friday’s board meeting.

League Express understands the Super League supremo said he was against the club being allowed back into the competition based on the evidence that had been provided by the club in their initial application.

In the end, the majority of clubs made the decision to give the Canadian club an additional four weeks to refine their application and ease fears that currently persist among Super League clubs.

Only three clubs are understood to have given Toronto a definitive ‘no’ on Friday based on what they had seen from the club’s application.

Instead, many clubs, though sceptical about their current application, are willing to be won over and have given Carlo LiVolsi an opportunity to present his and the club’s case to the club next month.

Elstone has long been understood to be against their return while RFL counterpart Ralph Rimmer supports the Wolfpack’s return.

Elstone said work will now be done on the commercial viability of Super League in Canada though it is unclear what that entails and who will take on the work.

“We need to think about the scope of that work, and there is some challenge in doing that. It’s easy to look at the size of Toronto, the wealth of Toronto, the tourist information of the city, the size of the broadcast markets, but we’ve got to make sure that’s relevant to the job in hand,” he said.

“The accessibility of Toronto Wolfpack to those markets is a lot different to how big those markets are. We will look at similar sports businesses and how they’ve capitalised on opportunities.”

Toronto Wolfpack: Chairman Bob Hunter backs club to prove worth to Super League
Last Updated: 27/09/20 7:04am
(Wolfpack Chairman) Bob Hunter is confident Toronto Wolfpack will be able to prove they a worthy of a place in Super League next year after the decision on their future was deferred for a month.

The Canadian side were granted more time at Friday's Super League board meeting, with new owner Carlo LiVolsi set to make a presentation via Zoom when they reconvene on October 23.

Wolfpack chairman Hunter is in no doubt LiVolsi is the right man to take the club forward following the departure of previous owner David Argyle and believes they can convince the 11 other clubs in the competition to back their bid for reinstatement.

“ I have an appreciation of Carlo's resources," Hunter told Sky Sports News. "He's a competitor and a bit of a sports fanatic, but he's a very sophisticated, intelligent businessman and he understand there is risk.

"Sports are very fickle and especially right now with the challenges of no fans. He has the depth, he has the resources and he has the passion to make this work.

"In Super League and the RFL's defence, their million-dollar question is do you have staying power - and we have 30 days to convince them we do."

Toronto had previously submitted a lengthy five-year business plan outlining sales and marketing, and community initiatives, as well as how LiVolsi will operate the club to ensure sustainability.

They are now expecting a request from Super League on Monday outlining which areas of the plan they require clarification on, which the staff in Canada will then put together ahead of LiVolsi's presentation.

Although no firm decision was made one way or the other on Friday, Hunter took the fact the Wolfpack will have another opportunity to state their case next month as a positive.

"It's very significant message they do want us and if we show we can do it sustainably and long-term, and add value, that's what we've got to do," Hunter said.

"We embarrassed Super League and the RFL when we decided we couldn't compete this year, and I'm just happy they're giving us another chance.

“ We've got some great owners and some great partners, and we're lucky about that and now we've got to prove our worth.

"From the coaches, the players still on roster, to our staff still in the UK and Toronto, it's a lifeline."

Hunter echoed head coach Brian McDermott's expectation that Sonny Bill Williams will return to the Wolfpack next year if they are reinstated in Super League.

The cross-code star is currently playing in Australia for Sydney Roosters on a deal until the end of the season but would be welcome back in Toronto.

We would love to [have Williams back], there is no doubt about it," Hunter said. "The only downside would be if Sonny Bill doesn't want to come back and I certainly hope that is not the case.

"When he left, he committed for next season and we hope that's going to be the case at the end of the season in Australia."
