Toronto Wolfpack Submit Final Proposal to Super League
24/10/2020 by admin

Toronto Wolfpack can confirm that a final submission was made to the Super League and Rugby Football League (RFL) yesterday, October 23. An extensive business plan by the Wolf Grooming investment group addressed a number of matters which the Super League and member clubs had asked to be clarified 4-weeks ago.

The Wolfpack are confident that the club will receive a fair hearing from the Super League Board, and the club is extremely grateful for the extra time they allowed for the submission. We feel the new submission demonstrates that under new ownership the Wolfpack can be a strong collaborative member of the Super League team, and add real value to the game as a whole.

A final presentation from the Wolf Grooming investment group, and decision from the Super League and fellow clubs, is expected in the next few weeks.

Just released:
“WARRINGTON Wolves' Super League clash with Catalans Dragons scheduled for Monday night in Perpignan has been cancelled.

The move follows further impact of Covid-19 on the Catalans club.

Dragons had been placed into Stage 2 of the Multiple Cases Framework last Wednesday after five of their players and two members of backroom staff received positive tests for Covid-19.

That meant they were required to suspend training, and the cancellation of the home fixture against Hull FC that was scheduled for Thursday, October 22.“

This cannot auger well for the future of intercontinental sports comps and must have some bearing on the decision.

If Toronto plays next year. They will have to stay in the UK all season. Will be like what happened to the Warriors in the NRL.

If Toronto get back in, COVID has made their survival (and Ottawa too) very remote.
International leagues and sporting events are now likely to be cancelled with minimum notice..far too risky.

Tis all over.
A new owner may be able to get them back in the lower levels, as they did have RFL support, but their liabilities would seem to preclude that.
Does not necessarily impact Ottawa joining, but Covid certainly could.

It is alleged that he did his direct presentation to SL from his car. Don’t know if it’s true, but if it was, that would have certainly turned a couple of undecided clubs off. His refusal to prove finances, must have sunk him besides his other demands.

be interesting now what actually happens to Toronto Wolfpack

Because with Covid and the challenges of playing in other countries
it even makes it hard to play in League 1 or the championship.

there are kind in a rock and hard place.

Unless plan's are drawn up for a North American League.

I understand that their CEO zoomed most players and staff and told them it’s all over.
Argyle still legally owns them, so I assume it’s up to him.
I’d say it’s over.

The newly-formed Ottawa Aces will not enter the RFL league structure next year.

TotalRL can reveal the Canadian club will not be a part of the 2021 League 1 season after reaching a mutual agreement with the RFL to stand down next year.

Players were informed by club founder Eric Perez in a Zoom call on Thursday evening.

The decision is not understood to be related to the recent expulsion of Toronto Wolfpack but instead a consequence of Covid-19. The Aces were set to spend their inaugural season in the UK due to the ongoing pandemic, which was deemed an undesirable scenario for a club looking to build their fanbase in the Canadian capital.

It is a sorry blow for the Aces playing squad, who are now free agents and on the lookout for a club at a time when many have finalised their recruitment and are feeling the pinch as a result of Covid.

The Aces were going to be full-time and many players had given up part-time jobs to join the club.

It’s understood the club will offer financial compensation to players, thought to be in the region of two months salary, while they look for new contracts.

It comes at a time when Super League’s decision to reject Toronto’s reapplication to Super League has left the Wolfpack’s players and staff without six months pay.

Ottawa were set to join the third-tier next season with former Catalans coach Laurent Frayssinous in charge. It is believed Perez remains keen to introduce the club in 2022, when it is hoped the pandemic will have stopped causing disruption.

Is nearly impossible to run a competition with overseas teams at the moment. Especially newly established teams and with the way the economy is with covid.

Will be no expansion for Rugby League or any sports until covid is no longer a danger. Especially internationally.
