Terry don't forget that the Women's SOO has far more viewers than any women's fumbling game .
Lol
Geez no wonder they froth foam & rant

Which poses a good question ... could the afl women’s competition have a state of origin ? That would also be a fair comparison rather then comparing a weekly comp to a marquee event.
Let 'em go for it Fred. But they will have the same problem as the men. Vic would dominate year on year and kill the competition.

And please don't go on about men's and SOO. You know......goldfish bowl and all that!!!!!
The myopic view of the fumbler is hilarious ..
Everything and every comparison is viewed through this view .
There's no effects from a rep scene on their domestic comp
No effects on crowds
No effects on ratings .
Everything is about their team in the comp
Nothing to take the focus off that .

Insular bubble dwellers who can't see that other sports have highs and lows due to rep games .

Well that's not excatly right ..they see the negatives and constantly point them out .
Yet when the positives Are mentioned they stamp their feet screeching about how rep games shouldn't count .

Hey I was not trying to argue anything just posing the question as to whether women’s afl could support a soo format. I know at the start it was pretty much state based anyway apart from maybe vic but there are a lot of women footballers playing aflw from across the country. Adelaide’s team is I believe largely made up of Northern Territorians. And no disrespect to the aflw but the general low standard would see those with the highest skill being able to play together and thus a much better quality game. This was seen pre aflw I think with the one or two games where the best of the best played with Melbourne and western bulldogs. The standard was pretty good and commentators did point out that the coming aflw Comp would be of a lower standard as talent spread across teams. Anyway, I think soo for the women would be good .

For the men, unfortunately club games and premierships are valued more and no coach in afl wants to lose players to a soo game.

I do not think the AFL will even go down the Path of origin for Women,
they wanna become the biggest Club comp for women in the Land, Origin would take focus of this plan..

Also back to Mens Game, the clubs will not release players for Origin Games?
but they somehow release them for AFLX Games ?
or when Australia play the odd game against Ireland..

lets face it, AFL know they cannot beat NRL at Origin,
And do an AFL origin series and be 2nd fiddle to the NRL

Yep. Hit the nail on the head Leeroy. And as I've said repeatedly......men's AFL SOO died because Vic dominated & it was no longer a real contest.

But this thread is for Australia's greatest sporting event......so Fred.....please create another thread for your fumbling SOO folly........cheers pal!!!!!!

You're a pleasant change of pace Leeroy. Beats your mates just bitching repetitively like fucking schoolgirls, then going "this is a fight club!". The dream of AFL origin is over unfortunately. The VIC v SA rivalry was ferocious but Melbourne kept growing whereas Adelaide didn't and, like you say, it wasn't the same because the gulf was suddenly too big.
- Interestingly though, at this very particular moment an SA side would be just as good, if not better. Probably WA too.
Playing WA was ok but it wasn't the same level of rivalry, and then having 5 or 6 teams in a sort of carnival made it even more irrelevant.
And yes it would just look silly compared to the NRL's. It'd be a smash immediately, but after that I don't think it would even scratch the surface of the NRL's, or even an AFL final.

- let's not pretend having more than 2 Aussie Rules states isn't a contributor though. NRL didn't spread left and it's the best thing that could've happened.

Sure is how it captivates fans for a night! The most forget about all things league the following day!

Proven after every single soo gsme
Great crowd tonight. Dwarfs the Swans Sydney crowds.
Dwarfs the Swans ratings in NSW too.

NSW Blues.
The most popular sporting team in Sydney.

Is that because the blues only play one game a year there. That will keep their average up!!

One of the all time dumb fuck posts.

The preferred codes' rep side, for a state of 8 million, outrates and outdraws the local team in the far smaller, locally, rival code. Do you genuinely feel special about that? As if we thought otherwise and you've just proven your point? ](*,)

No doubt the SOO series is the crowning glory of Rugby League in Australia.
And , yes that one NSW game far exceeded the Swans attendance.
And the Swans attendance exceeds your main competitions teams.
So for that one game Rugby League is more popular than the Swans, for the rest of the year the other
120 Games at the elite level are not.
Yes there is something to shout about, but it is a very short shout.

Let me get this straight Q.
Apart from one game, AFL is more important/popular to attend than RL in Sydney for the balance of the 120 elite level games?
Am i reading you right?

I remember Origin in Adelaide in the 90's it was quite good to watch..
and what i remember quite popular, than suddenly disappeared
But yes Victoria become to strong, A Two Team concept you need balance
(STATE V STATE FOOTY) It is the AFL's to decide.

Pal, I think you'll find that TV ratings in Sydney place the Swans behind every NRL team. And by some margin. They win crowds in single comparisons but get thrashed every week by every NRL team in TV ratings.
