Re: The qualities that make Afl leaders

I might have to do a u-turn on this Burges fella.
He swears, on his childrens lives, that he didn't know his finger was in his eye.

https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/george ... 523h2.html

And then this ripper from the GM. Sound like a fecking eulogy.

South Sydney general manager Shane Richardson has described the eye gouge which saw George Burgess land a nine-game ban as a “tragedy”, while defending the prop as a “good dad.”
“It’s a tragedy for George and his family — the whole situation that’s come up,” said Richardson.

“I want to say this, though, George is a loving father, a brother and a son.

“At South Sydney he’s been nothing but an ornament all the way through, I don’t think this should ever define what George Burgess is about in any way, shape or form.

“It’s an unfortunate incident which he pleaded guilty to tonight, but it will not define his career. He’s nothing but a quality human being.”

And the NRL councel.

That was in direct conflict with the view of NRL counsel Peter McGrath.

In his closing summary before the judiciary, McGrath said: “It was deliberate and intentional and there needs to be an appropriate penalty.

“I accept there are legitimate injuries playing the game of rugby league but fingers in eye sockets runs the risk of suck serious injury.

“The game regards this with complete disgust.

“There’s a pattern of deliberate behaviour and the penalty needs to reflect a lesson for him and a lesson for everyone who plays the game.”

A fucking tragedy.

A tsunami hitting a densely populated coast is a tragedy.

Yes, crap history will provide allot of examples. Good of you to remember,
But remember this.
You own the latest, and its a doozy!

Swears on his children..............!

Until you sill turnips can provide a list of leaders in the nrl who have half the blood on their hands that the Afl leaders list in the op has you’re simply not in the game.

Here’s another

James Hird - supported injecting pigs brains and allowing illegal performance enhancing drugs

 the afl, always keen on pushing the scum of the earth to the top!

So in sum and on topic, given the Afl lads in here haven’t been able to rummage even one example in rebuttals , at this point we can safely say the Afl has supported the most scum of the earth types to reach and be revered at the top of the institution than any of the other codes in Australia...by far....and possibly on a per capital basis the Afl has had the most scum bags in leadership positions than any pro sport in the world.

Deflecting from what .

I have commented on Burgess ..said he should have got 6 months .
Sporty brought Hoppa into the debate
So i just mentioned GOD
As he was from the same era.
& what he did was far worse than Hoppa...& nobody calls Hoppa GOD.

So see your mate sporty about bringing up past player indiscretions .

And Gary Ablett senior was elevated as a senior leader and captain of his club...hoppa wasn’t raised as a leader.

It’s just the way the afl operates.

That was like 10 years ago! And two years ago in the eyes of a league fan is not relevant so 10 years is a life time ago

In NBA Donald Sterling forced to sell team after racist recording emerges. Eddie McGuire racially abuses Adam Goodes live on radio & keeps job as president of league's biggest team. Says it all.
