Yeah I can really see a lot happening with sport in Canada. Having two local teams will only strengthen Rugby League.

AFLs international efforts are comical in comparison. Exhibition matches in New Zealand getting cancelled. While games in China becoming a laughing stock too.

The AFL doesnt give a shit about the international game. Its about bringing the talent and money here - money is why the china game is held, its not about growth of the game there.
You keep saying that Wookie but the evidence would say otherwise:

" the Australian Football League has staged an exhibition match, built pitches, opened a development academy, sponsored the South China AFL competition and supported the Chinese national team."

Sure sounds like they're desperately trying to build the game over there my friend. You know.......like make it international!!

I think there can be huge things for rugby league if these clubs become really successful. Local darbys between Toronto & Ottawa like Leeroy said.

There could possibly be some decent grass roots players in the NRL from Canada one day. Eric Perez has a vision to have teams in all the major Canadian cities eventually.
Time will tell, but to have a nation with a population bigger than Australia and New Zealand combined getting into our sport can lead to a lot of possibilities.

People in the AFL make out they don't care what rugby league is doing. But I am sure they would be curious and watching the progress when our sport has two new professional clubs in a non rugby league nation.

ok for a start, lets run through yet another bullshit post from terry.

" the Australian Football League has staged an exhibition match, built pitches, opened a development academy, sponsored the South China AFL competition and supported the Chinese national team."
the Australian Football League has staged an exhibition match
Actually two full premiership season matches, and a preseason game way back in the day.
built pitches
No the AFL hasnt. Port Adelaide and its sponsors have done the work in Shanghai, and Melbourne City Council built one in Tianjin (AFL spokesman Patrick Keane said the league did not contribute to the oval in 2011).
opened a development academy
Which in turn is
designed to introduce athletes to Australian football and help identify and develop potential elite players who have the ability to transition into Australia and the AFL.
http://aflnswact.com.au/afl-academy-launched-in-china/
sponsored the South China AFL competition and supported the Chinese national team
Again, this has been Port Adelaide, not the AFL itself.
But wasn't AFL X developed so AFL can be played in other countries?
I heard it was created because there are very few round fields in a lot of countries.
So AFL was hoping a hybrid rectangular version of the sport would help this issue.

I do hope they set up academy's to develop Home Grown talent in Canada,
being if it is Union or League players they convert.

Home Grown Talent pathways is crucial,
hopefully in 10 years they are not relying on England or Australia.

and have a Great International Team

Exciting times Internationally
