If I buy a new latest state of the art model luxury car & am getting great fuel economy say 2x what I was getting with my old 86 Corolla Do I work out my fuel economy Lts/ 100km by including the Corolla average or just the average of my new car .

Then, to your suprise and for reasons out of your control your swanky new rides fuel economy drops off a cliff back to a level of your 86 corolla.
And you're left in a situation where there's no improvment for the fuck load of cash you splashed.
