AFLs attempts in China would have to be the biggest sporting flop of all time.
Covid was a good excuse for them to quit while they were failing miserably over there.

Remember all the crowing from AFL about it. What a joke.

Dammmm Covid .
Came along at the wrong time .
Just when the AFL was getting a foothold in China.
Packed catering tents bursting at the seams .
Stadiums bursting at the seams .
So many going to games that buses( carrying 1000s) got lost in the traffic .
Did the CCP release Covid to stop the spread of AFL .
The threat of an AFL takeover would not be taken well by the Communist party.

Any word from the AFL propaganda Dept(Gils mouth)on when they go back .
There must be some catering companies(tent& food) &Bus companies doing it very tough over there without the massive Influx of fans .
Hope they survive till the pandemic is over .

I thought it was a Port Adelaide Power decision / initiative and not an AFL one ? I would assume if Port Adelaide Power want to go back and are allowed , it would still happen . Stupidest thing only outdone by the whole AFLX fiasco.

AFL should just stick to one country. They looked like total idiots grandstanding in China.
Maybe when they have actual teams and competitions in other countries, then start talking lol...

NZ was a massive failure too. Cancelled games early due to such little interest.

Your never going to sell a sport to another country when you gives points for missing and play so called football on a field made for cricket. :(/

AFL making huge impact in China's sporting culture pre 2020, but setback due to coronavirus.
Watch out for a big year for AFL in China 2023.

It was a port Adelaide initiative to make money…they say they did and would have kept going except for the pandemic.
Politics may now get in the way.
A bit sad with the crowds, and the lopsided games were a bit disappointing.
But it was always and only a money making exercise.

The AFL could always say no - and charge Port for bringing the game into disrepute :)
