Oh I've been owned
Anyone following this thread can see
You put up the following arguments .
Not enough population....show me another city with 200k ..I showed you Geelong.
Not viable
I showed you that an ex state govt official stated it was viable....you choose to believe afl house ..lol
You said not enough support ...only gauge we have is when a state Tas team was palying( before the afl dumped NM players in there) they had fantastic support & crowds .
The afl agenda is clear to those not brainwashed
Vlad & now GIl the dill have no nteredt in Tas except as a breeding ground for players .
They are too busy with their own bullshit agendas to care about a heartland state .
Next please
This ones done .
Put a fork in him

Re: The AFL Looking after there grassroots!
You brought up Geelong, about the worst example possible given its location close to AFLs biggest market. Your example was easily refuted.
Next you claimed fantastic support for a local tasmanian team. What crowds and membership levels did they have?
As for the AFLs agenda, you dont get off anywhere near that easy. Why would the AFL NOT want a successful team in Tasmania, explain why, not some BS about being too busy. Lol

Re: The AFL Looking after there grassroots!
And ur logic re low crowds for gws in Hobart is that it’s all Hobart attracting a large cohort of travelling rather than local fans?NlolRL wrote: ↑Wed Jan 02, 2019 12:19 pmI used the gws games as examples showing the tasmanian games have a large proportion of travelling fans, nothing more.King-Eliagh wrote: ↑Wed Jan 02, 2019 7:51 amLol that’s what I said, they’re not comparable. Yet you’ve used gws games in tas to suggest there’s no need for a team in Tasmania/it wouldn’t be viable.
And You just need to add one bit to your last statement, it should read
Gws is a failed expansion, Tasmania isn’t. That’s the difference
You cant claim Gws has failed until theyve had a sustained era of success and still have lower crowd averages than the local heartland clubs
Seriously. Have you ever stopped to consider that not many people support gws...period? They’re a shithouse fake expansion side that has failed to expand their crowds in 8 years. In a city of 2million plus they don’t even get the same home crowds as Hobart can pull to boring old north melb vs whoever.
Your logic is seriously flawed....as per usual.

and your logic is whatever AFL says is a lie.
Again, come up with a decent reason why the AFL wouldnt want to expand into Tasmania if they could produce a successful club.....They're too busy doesnt cut it

The games in Hobart are part made from locals, from supporters of North, and oppositions supporters. When the giants play the crowds are far lower because less fans travel. This also shows not many locals attend. That's the point. 200k is a very small population to attend a high attendance sport like the AFL

Re: The AFL Looking after there grassroots!
The fine art of screwing over a state .
Pretend that you are all for an AFL team while pillaging the local talent .
Then use the lack of interest in the state league ( talent all gone )as an excuse not to give them a team .
To put it in terms a simpleton might understand ..
You can race at Bathurst next year ( & we really do want you there) if you show your car is up to it .
Just let our mechanics take all modifications off your car ...he'll you don't even need those tyres .
So go hard ..we really want you there .
In offering a renewal of Tasmania’s involvement in the TAC Cup and the VFL, the AFL has merely thrown crumbs. It is selling its new blueprint on the basis that it invites unity from the state’s footy fans. Yet, clearly, it will have no such impact. There is nothing in this package for Tasmanian football fans.
It could even be argued that it reduces the game’s value for those in Tasmania who want to go to well-attended games or follow a local team’s fortunes each week.
With the very best of the state’s talent being drahfted, the best juniors being placed in a re-born TAC Cup Mariners team, and the best seniors playing VFL, the state league will function without the top three layers of talent. The idea that this could make for a better local football environment, one sufficiently vibrant to carry the state into the AFL, defies logic.
So, if the state league doesn’t do it for fans, might possible inclusion of a state team in the VFL sprinkle the magic dust? Well, ask yourself this: is the chance of seeing your state demeaned to the point of playing in Victoria’s state league, effectively AFL seconds, likely to be a source of uplift and unity?

Re: The AFL Looking after there grassroots!
Of course lets blame the AFL for Tasmania's state league struggling. Before the AFL started playing games in Tasmania they were booming (not)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tasmanian_Football_League
The league has a long and convoluted history which dates back to its founding on 12 June 1879 (giving it some claim to the title of the third oldest club football league in the world), but the name "TFL" (also the state's football governing body) was removed after it was liquidated with crushing debts in February 1999 and replaced by an independent commission (Football Tasmania) and the competition was renamed the Tasmanian State Football League (1999) and the SWL (2000) until the number of clubs in financial difficulty made the league unsustainable and it collapsed in December 2000. After long negotiations and discussions it was reinstated as a ten club competition in 2009.

Jesus you are dumb .
Not ordinary dumb .
But dropped from a great height on your head dumb .
Of course it struggles now & in the past .
Due to the reasons outlined above ...all the talent is taken .
If you are good enough to play afl ...seeing as there's no local team to aspire to you go to Melb or wherever there is a team .
Just not in Tas .
You should really try to think for yourself .
