Well done ladies....
More teams, now more air time.
The ladies of the AFLW getting just reward for setting the bar for women's Sport in this country.
Leaving the rest to eat their dust.....

The AFL has brokered a broadcast deal for the next four years of AFLW, with Fox Footy set to broadcast every single game live.
There had been some concern as to whether every game would be aired on television, particularly with the introduction of Geelong and North Melbourne in 2019, plus four more expansion clubs in 2020.
But the four-year commitment from Fox Sports and Channel 7 means that fans will have live access to every AFLW match.
2019 AFLW FIXTURE: See the full schedule for the upcoming season
Fox Footy will exclusively broadcast three matches each round in 2019, while simulcasting the two Channel 7 matches.
In 2020 — with the addition of Richmond, St Kilda, West Coast and Gold Coast — Fox Footy will exclusively broadcast four games, while simulcasting the three games on Channel 7.
Both networks will air every final throughout the deal, while all games will also be viewable on the digital platforms of Foxtel, Channel 7 and the AFL.
The 2019 AFLW season kicks off on February 2, with Geelong to host Collingwood at GHMBA Stadium.
Head of Fox Sports Peter Campbell said the network was committed to delivering ad break free coverage of the women’s league.
“The AFLW is an exciting competition that continues to grow and engage and it complements the wide range of women’s sport that we showcase on Foxtel,” he said

Re: Well done ladies....
Setting, crap. Setting the bar.
It's still rising.
Every game, some simulcast. Fox and FTA
Are you sure it started this year?
Considering the NRL saying it'll be comparable to the AFLW in a few years.
The first season of AFLW was massive. Every second add seem to be for it at the time.
NRLW...... Stuff all.
Seems they're half arse'n'it.

Re: Well done ladies....
Usually Sports would excel after Year 1 (not go backwards by 50% in year 2 )
for example the BIG BASH for women's cricket is getting bigger and bigger each year.
with crowds and tv audiences

I think Women's Cricket and Netball are the best followed by Rugby codes.
( AFLW have too many poor players, and that comes with teams being stretched too thin )

Re: Well done ladies....
I disagree. The first year often has an increased level of interest due to the novelty.leeroy*NRL* wrote: ↑Fri Dec 14, 2018 10:14 amUsually Sports would excel after Year 1 (not go backwards by 50% in year 2 )

Going by my example of the BIG BASH for womens and mens.
they gained on popularity year on year and than leveled out

Re: Well done ladies....
Pal, the ladies mess dropped 65% on FTA and nearly 40% on Fox. That is a catastrophic drop not an expected decrease due to first year 'novelty'. Once again you will not accept anything negative about your precious little game. Delusional stuff as expected.NlolRL wrote: ↑Fri Dec 14, 2018 10:22 amI disagree. In the real world: the main problem the ladies fumbling mess has got is the lampooning and derision it gets from hard core fans, ex players and large sections of the usually pliant media. They ain't got no RESPECT.
The standard of the games are largely a laughing stock. Compared to ladies soccer, cricket, RL & RU the ladies are massively behind in skill and athletic ability.
The actual game plays a part in this. AFL in general is a fumbling mess. Put in part time ladies and other 'athletes' who have never played the game and you get an absolute mess of bumbling, stumbling and fumbling.
Next year I suspect the tv ratings will drop again. There will be the usual hype from the AFL propaganda dept whilst the realists will continue laughing.

Re: Well done ladies....
The first few rounds had huge crowds so there was a novelty factor far beyond what was expected. There was no way they were going maintain anywhere close to that level of interest. If it declines more this year that will be a concern, I drop on an incredible first year is totally expectedTerry wrote: ↑Fri Dec 14, 2018 11:30 amPal, the ladies mess dropped 65% on FTA and nearly 40% on Fox.
