It's nothing more than a preseason warmup. What are you going to laugh about next? Training sessions?

"Our focus now switches to 2019 and, with a range of initiatives including Magic Round and our first Origin game in Perth, we believe we are set for a very special year," he said.

&. A circus freak show that has contracted to one day in heartland .on an oval ..when it was supposed to be the game to be played on rectangular grounds in non Heartland .

& taking it to the world .

Is rugby league the No. 1 sport in Australia?

Yes. It matters to millions of people and I think the opportunity is to grow this thing into the best it can be, which is the No. 1 code. I want to keep it that way and develop this great game into something we're all really proud to be a part of, be it as an administrator, sponsor, fan, parent or young boy or girl who plays rugby league.

Reading through this thread again I fail to see where the AFL have really talked AFLx up, other than saying it appeals to the young. This was based on the ages which attended last season.

Other than that we've heard them say the format has potential and they may try games in other cities.

Is that it? All this froth for a few positive comments?

Wow LOL

The Australian Football League (AFL) has launched a new short-form competition, AFLX, which aims to bring the sport to an international audience....AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan, chief executive at the AFL, said: “We have had trouble taking our game internationally. This is not our traditional game, AFLX, but it's got all the best bits of it.

“It means that we could go to Hong Kong in November next year not only with two clubs, but we could take six clubs and play a mini-tournament.

Meanwhile, the AFL has named ice-cream manufacturer Zooper Dooper as a primary supporting partner of AFLX.

As part of the agreement, a ten-point ‘Zooper goal’ will be awarded to any player who kicks a goal on the full outside the 40m arc, or from directly in front as a penalty for deliberate rushed behinds.

Try not to bury your head in the sand .

From The Australian after last years comedy festival .
See what I mean about the AFL & their medias propaganda
This is the headline ..when the opposite was the true reality.

AFLX’s spectacular debut sets up global campaign

The success of AFLX will prompt the league to introduce the new concept around the world, starting almost certainly in Hong Kong in November next year with as many as six clubs initially involved.

Before then, AFLX general manager of China and India Dave Stevenson said there would be “some tinkering” around the structure of the shortened version of the game. “We might look at such things as changing the zones or adding more players than the current seven,” he said.

Seven-a-side AFLX marked the start to the code’s pre-season practice matches, with the JLT Community Series beginning on Saturday before the first game of the premiership season on March 22.

The Crows, Demons and Brisbane remained undefeated in their games by taking out the grand finals in the three divisions.

Stevenson told The Australian yesterday the league had interest from “multiple” clubs, promoters and international stadiums to play the game overseas from 2019. “
We’ve even been contacted by recently retired players interested in participating in the new format in the future,” Stevenson said.

That second bolded bit is the best & funniest bit of crap I've read in ages
