Just to highlight

However, AFL has steadily been making inroads into the region with much of that progress resulting from the success of the GIANTS Academy.

Since its inception in 2011, the Academy has seen more than 30 players drafted by AFL clubs.

Campbelltown’s Nick Shipley was the first Academy graduate from western Sydney to play for the GIANTS

Carlingford’s Kieren Briggs, 18, is a near-certainty to be drafted this year after being named ruckman in the under-18 All Australian team. The Pennant Hills Demons junior was a rugby league and soccer fan but started playing Aussie rules when the GIANTS were formed.
Those guys playing this week?
keep back-peddling thickshit, with those training wheels on thinking your intelligent for being able to comment about the afl

there is 2 games on this weekend & afl has a draft system, players are nominated and any club gets to pick in order the player they want no matter where they are from. unlike league where they use catchment areas

how many players will be running around from Victoria in the NRLOL this weekend? or for the Minnowbourne storm?

are any of these players still going around about
Mahe Fonua: (Melbourne Storm & Hull F.C.)[39]
Jake Webster: (Melbourne Storm, Gold Coast Titans & Hull Kingston Rovers) [40]
Timana Tahu: (Newcastle Knights, Parramatta Eels & NSW Waratahs).[41][42]
Craig Polla-Mounter: (Canterbury).[43]
Peter Wallace (Penrith Panthers & Brisbane Broncos)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rugby_league_in_Victoria

thats the history of the 5 Victorians to have played league and only one for the Minniwbourne storm
So what you're trying to say is a club supposedly representing Western Sydney will feature no players from Sydney. Why should the local community have an attachment to this dud?

yep exactly Tin Foil hat man!
youd think the Minnowbourne Storm could at least find most than at least one player in their 20 plus years of existence from a local catchment area!

Aussie rules development is progressing and steadily at least in Sydney/NSW unlike League in Victoria :thumbleft:

That’s just the way the draft system works. But as you can see from the article posted, there are efforts by the afl and gws to promote and develop players from their regions. Hence 30 players have come through the academy onto afl lists and players from western Sydney are included in that. That is what gws is about ... growing Australian Rules in such an area.

Gold Coast Suns are a basket case. They need help, and the AFL’s likely to give it to them

The AFL has a looming decision on their hands regarding a potential priority pick for Gold Coast.
But if you ask a number of rival AFL club recruiters, it’s a decision that is all but certain to be granted

The feeling among rival club recruiters is the AFL will officially announce the ‘assistance’ package next week — a view shared by Herald Sun reporter Michael Warner — with Gold Coast to be given a priority pick at the top of the draft.

Yes, the Priority pick is there for any club to apply for when certain criteria are met. Have not the NRL helped out tyextitans ... if so a bit of a shame. I guess they took ownership for a bit .

The titans were going to be shut down by asic, had debts of 35 plus million and were kicked out of their facility to become homeless and were training at a school and too refuge at the local council building! Were taken over by the nrl and still constant talk of merger or relocation & a crowd base similar to the size of the suns based on numbers

No the titans have had no troubles in the eyes of the league people and only to continue to point at gcs and go but but but

Absolute bullshit again that you cannot provide a source for .
Why do you keep repeating it if you can't show it's true .
They were not kicked out .

They moved into a school while their new training facility was being built .& that was 3 yrs ago . .
Lol the THUNS are currently a rabble .
The comp will be compromised again to help them .

We coveted this in our special thread 🚽 and you still don’t understand

When the suns hit the stage of being booted from home and being shut down by asic you have an argument!

Since they haven’t g&gf
The titans and suns have similar support levels and based in what is league heart land
