Buddy Franklin could have gone to Western Sydney but he chose to live in Bondi & play for the swans. Hmmmm I wonder why
Maybe it was more along the lines, he wanted a team that wins,
than GWS Folou Experiment losing by 100 playing in front of no one.

and I am pretty sure it was the 10 year deal that got him across the line.

I think the Giants and Suns have a point when you consider the strong go home factor and other clubs circling to take young developing talent. I’d like to see them drop the silly GWS name too and identify more as simply Western Sydney Giants. Sounds silly when you hear commentary refer to them as GWS.
Strong go home factor . What a crock of shit ...
Poor little mummy boys can't be away from home .
Can't they get on a 2 hr flight to go see mummy if they miss them .

A pathetic excuse
Doesn't seem to worry RL players signed by Melb .

Maybe we breed them a bit tougher .
How soft are these AFL players, they can't be a 1 hour flight 1000 km from 'home' Jesus, Football players travel the globe, Aaron Mooy left home to play in England when he was 15. Cahill was 17 I think.

Nathan Walker who just won the Stanley Cup with Washington left home to play in the Czech Republic when he was 14.

All of these guys are bigger stars than any AFL sook. Toughen up
It does make me laugh the go home factor with these AFL players.

NRL players are moving to England to play in the UK Super League all the time. Some going to Canada to play for Toronto Wolfpack too.

And here you have AFL players not wanting to move to another state.

Giants say $167m investment will pay off

THE AFL will pour another $23 million into Greater Western Sydney this season — taking the total investment in the expansion club beyond $167 million. But after seven seasons, Giants chairman Tony Shepherd insists they are on track “to become a fully viable club.
167Milllllion bucks. Wow, I was right when I said the Afl could bring several small nations out of poverty with the cash they’ve drained into the team they called Greater Western Sydney.... who by the way aren’t based in and don’t play their home games in greater western Sydney.
 I mean for fukks sake, they couldn’t even get that right.
The question now is....how far will the clowns at Afl hq run with this one? I wouldn’t be surprised if they push onto the billion dollar mark

If they AFL stop giving them concessions and draft picks
once GWS start dropping out of the 8

than watch the AFL Club start to milk money even further...

I think AFL would love them to win a premiership. Would give them the publicity they need.

At the moment they are shown on 7mate like nearly all AFL games in Sydney. A channel that usually rates only 2%....

DOES AFL NEED TO REVIVE COLA TO SAVE SUNS?

THE AFL has been urged to bring back the controversial cost of living allowance and give Gold Coast up to an extra $2 million a year in its salary cap to help save the embattled club.

there's no doubting the 'go home' factor is killing the Suns. They continue to lose quality players back to their home states

i dont understand why these players are home sick.. when getting paid so much money...

all sports around the world.. you move away from your home state

its a natural thing..

why is this affecting the AFL clubs more than other codes...
