Wow! .... another thriller at the G.

Those millions they spend on equalisation really do seem to be paying off
what a stupid comment.

Equalisation doesnt mean there won't be blowouts, it's the nature of a high scoring game. It means more of the teams will be competitive and the same teams wont win every year, aka the storm. So far this year we have StKilda, Fremantle, Essendon, Goldcoast and Port in the top 8, all of whom missed the finals last year. Hawthorn, Melbourne, Sydney and West coast are outside the 8 despite making the 8 last year.

In the NRL only the top 9 teams have won half their games or more. In the AFL the top 13 clubs have won half their games or better. So far the AFL is a more even competition.

 and there’s another lopsidedmatchvgoing on in Melbs right now.
A much faster free flowing game than a bunch of fatties running with a ball under their atm and jumping like a **** on the ground to score a try

Afl out rates and draws much bigger numbers that the sideways throwball

I wasnt referring to winning the GF, I was talking about winning more regularly. Of course I know they havnt been premiers every year

The Storm are again one of the top few teams this year. Theyve only missed the top 4 once in the last 9 seasons!!

Swans anyone? When was last time they missed the finals?

Facts at the nrl puts on thrillers, the Afl puts on snorefests

It didn’t used to be this way tho folks. The Afl used to provide much more even contests....before their arrogance fucked with their heads and they thought they could get interest in a western Sydney and Gold Coast team

Very few have been lapped! Which seems to be a pretty regular occurrence in your game.

Just to keep on topic here....lemme just ... ahem .... well here just read this

Friday night in the afl

North melb 58 - Essendon 116
West coast 53 - port 95

Look I know it’s funny and all but lemme be serious and honest for a moment. I really feel for the fans who work hard all week, and then pay their hard earned for rubbish, absolute rubbish. I mean there’s been several games this weekend where a professional afl outfit has scored 1-2 goals in an entire half of footy. The lopsidedness of the comp stinks and it’s not fair on the fans. Not fair at all.

most sports have one-sided games. Equalisation doesn't guarantee all games will be close, it just means the same teams wont be the best or worst most of the time.

StKilda beat Melbourne easily yesterday, but Melbourne were heavily favoured to be better this year.

Port easily beat WC on Friday but WC are the reigning premiers and Port didnt even make the 8 last year.

Fremantle easily beat the giants yesterday, which again was an upset.

Carlton are currently beating the bulldogs.

This is equalisation at work, not nail-biters every game

Furthermore, why pick on one round. Look at the NRL so far this season:
Rnd 1: 22-12, 14-8, 26-16, 40-6, 20-6, 24-12, 20-12, 21-0

That's like the AFL having an opening round of:
110-60, 70-40, 130-80, 200-30, 100-30, 120-60, 100-60, 105-0

 ^^^ 105 - 0 .... 200 - 30 8-[

Sorry to break it to ya nlol... but your year five maths equations don’t quite cut the mustard in making a comparative scoring illustration between the codes.

Year five

How many games in Afl history has there been a score line 105-0? How many times in nrl have we seen 20+ to 0 scorelines?

Your equations are year five level bro. And please you don’t have to go down to a three year old and try be funny by suggesting my first paragraph in this post means the Afl is actually more even ;)

No matter what the scoring systems are a close game is one where both teams are a chance to win in the final stages of the match. In Afl we just don’t see this happen often at all anymore. Not often at all

I worded it poorly but obviously didnt mean the GF

My point stands though. Equalisation isnt about making every game a nail-biter, it's about sharing success and failure amongst all clubs.

The Storm would have to be one of the most consistently successful clubs over 2 decades in Australian sporting history
