Whilst looking for a few other stats I came across this.

Sporting news supplied some figures in 2017 on the distance covered by the average Australian footballer by code by game:

Super Rugby: 7kms a game
NRL: 7.2kms a game
A-League: 10kms a game
AFL:13kms a game

Rugby League, not a kicking game, comparatively not much of a running game either.
the mojority of the kms the league players do is plodding in a line uo the field with their team mates.

plus the sheer size of the playing surfaces that the players are required to cover is far greater in the af

What has how far someone runs, got to do with whether a sport is a real football code.

For a start AFL don't play their game on a football field. You play on a cricket field. Not a real football code.

Secondly AFL don't use proper goals with crossbars. Just 4 upright posts. Not a real football code.

Thirdly, real football does not reward stupidity. AFL gives you a point when you miss. Not a real football code.

Not only that, oval balls are not made to be bounced on the ground by hand.
This is so farkin stupid it is comical.
AFL players bouncing an oval ball is about as logical as driving a car with square wheels. =D =D

AFL is not even recognized as a football code outside Australia due to having no professional clubs overseas.

Also nobody wears a male netballers uniform to play football. That is what AFL players wear in games.

AFL just is'nt football. Is like an April fools joke lol. :(/

so let me get this right.

Rugby League... where the use of the foot to control the ball is football but Australian Rules, where the use of the foot with the ball is a major part of the game and integral to it, is not football? Hmmmmmmm. Okay then. What ever floats your boat.

Interesting nothing mentioned relates to actually kicking the ball, you know, football.

And scoring in Rugby league has had many changes through the years, currently there are 4 different methods, initially there were 6, there have been 6 different point scoring systems and 9 different changes. I am not including Union changes where for a considerable period a TRY was worth no points and when finally it was it was only scored if you missed a goal.

Australian Rules has had one change since 1854.

Here is what the Encyclopedia Britannica says about Australian Rules

Australian rules football, a football sport distinctive to Australia that predates other modern football games as the first to create an official code of play. Invented in Melbourne, capital of the state of Victoria, in the late 1850s, the game was initially known as Melbourne, or Victorian, rules football and was an amalgam of various football rules that were in use at English public (independent) schools. Although Australian rules football is one of several football sports played today in Australia, the national professional Australian Football League (formerly known as the Victorian Football League) is the country’s most popular sports competition in terms of attendance and television viewing.

I guarantee if you showed pics of AFL players in uniform without the ball to people overseas.

How many people would know they are footballers?

I’m not sure they’d know even in uniform ??? That hardly matters though either way? I’m not sure what the point is here? That people outside Australia wouldn’t know an afl player... wouldn’t that be expected? Has nothing as to whether it is a real football code? Afl still kicks the ball far more then rl or union. Hence ... Foot. ball. Your obsession over earthed Australian Rules is popular overseas is quite remarkable. The days of the cultural cringe are gone ... I had hoped. We no longer need to look at the rest of the world to see if they approve or if we are good enough. We can lead the world or we can just do our own thing. Doesn’t matter.

Same goes for league?

People would refer to them as rugby players from union

Anywhere around the word!
People non rugby fans couldn’t even tell you the difference in the rules or how league is different from union

Yes but that would know they play a form of Rugby.

If you show players in AFL uniforms around the world you would think.
Are they male netballers?
Do they play basketball?

They look nothing like a footballer. Then you could show them an AFL oval and they would probably think it is a Cricket field.

Nothing football about AFL. Playing on a cricket field with 8 vertical posts.

You dont even have propper goals

What is AFL :hmm: :hmm: Can't be football.

So your own admission they wouldn’t know the difference
Some juiced up meat head plays rugby

Ask nearly any one what’s the difference between the two codes and won’t be able to tell you!
Pretty funny when you consider league is apparently a world game and has its own identity

Afl doesn’t, never claim this or try to :)))

Thick shit

So.... this would have to be the stupidest rationale here... afl players don’t look like footballers ... rl and ru players do .. soccer players do ... but not afl players. Again... nothing to do with kicking the ball lol.

Are you really this stupid ? Seriously? AFL actually gave kicking as an integral and frequent part of their game. RL throwing the ball is the integral thing...but you feel rl deserves to be called football more so then afl???? That’s just such a stupid statement you should be enbarassed.
