Ha 5 players lol.. Out of a few hundred white Aussie players.

How many Polynesians play AFL? Is 40% of the NRL.
And the way Africans love to play NFL, will only be a matter of time till they start breaking into first grade NRL.

AFL is trying to emulate rectangular structured football codes in an effort to go international. But just keeps flopping and failing.
Just to correct you,
Wikipedia lists currently 14 players born in or a parent with Fiji, Tonga or New Zealand. Considering there are many Koori (10% of all players https://www.creativespirits.info/aborig ... statistics and OS (either born or parents) players your few hindred WHITE players is obviously an ill informed and ignorant comment. Furthermore there are over 700 afl players so ago your way off.
Theres no evidence AFRICAN's love to play NFL, (Maybe NBA) certainly African Americans seem to play NFL. Africans seem to like soccer in both cases there isnt a lot of choice to play other sports the American school and collage heavily favours NFL and in Africa it seems poverty plays a large part with access to other sports. Overall pretty ill informed and ignorant comments.
All these so called Polynesians players, and yet AFL can't field one decent team to compete against Australia. Not even in NZ.

Hmm think I am sensing b.s....

Africans don't like the NFL lol??? Are you serious???
Most of the teams are dominated by African Americans.
=D
For someone that professes a great love for the NFL you dont seem to know mucb about how players get to the NFL. Players in High school are identified and usually are given scholarships at Collage from which they are drafted. It has nothing to do with a partucular race favouring a partucular sport but more that African American players have a natural ability that makes them stand out to recruiters. Like the NBA there is a pre-dominance of African Americans because their natural athleticism towards the sport and maybe poverty. Were these same people in Australia or Europe or Africa no doubt the would play the sport where they grow up. Your full of ignorant comments.

I am talking African Americans. Yes they are born in America. But they are still of African descent.

At the end of the day Aussie Rules is still a sport only professional in Australia.

Gridiron is massive in Canada too. They have the CFL in Canada and the NFL in the U.S.

Just look at the quality of the sport in Canada. While AFL has no other nation to get their players.

One nation game AFL

NFL is a perfect example of a phenomenally popular sport in it's homeland that has struggled to gain popularity elsewhere that translates into a professional comp ,other than their small land-based neighbour. If the NFL cant do it with their following, finances and exposure, how the hell can the AFL? Expansion is far far harder than you believe

Struggled for popularity lol.. Did'nt you see how popular Gridiron is in canada? Is their national sport. NFL is just the name of the organization. Gridiron is huge in Canada and the U.S.A.
Is only Aussie Rules that survives only in Australia.

Not only that. NFL games regularly get over 80,000 at Wembley in London with exhibition games.
They could easily put a team in England. Timezones and sharing of venues are the main issues holding them back.

Opening NFL game crowd at Wembley with U.S national Anthem.

I already acknowledged canada play gridiron, but they are a small land-based neighbour who share many sports including ice hockey and baseball. Really, it's a poor example.

As for exhibition games, they dont translate to the popularity required for a local professional comp. That illustrates my point perfectly. NFL is world known with enough interest to fill a one-off game, yet cant get a professional comp outside north America

A small neighbour. They have a bigger population than Australia. Over 36 million people in Canada.

How is team is constantly selling around 80,000 tickets in another country everytime they play a poor example? I am certain they could field a team there.

This is not one off. They always get huge crowds when they play in the UK.

Is just the quality of the sports that sells. AFL is just a shit product. Which is why it can't get a following in even close neighbouring nations.

AFL is clumsy, untidy and poorly structured. Plain and simple.

they're small on a global scale. They are also HEAVILY influenced by US culture and play sports that are loved by the USA, such as baseball, ice hockey and basketball. They even have the same accent FFS
How is team is constantly selling around 80,000 tickets in another country everytime they play a poor example? I am certain they could field a team there.
again, despite all the interest in gridiron world wide no professional comp exists outside north America. That says it all. It takes far far more than just interest and influence.
Is just the quality of the sports that sells.
pfft. Most people I know think it's boring despite the massive hype it gets with big crowds and media coverage.
AFL is just a shit product. Which is why it can't get a following in even close neighbouring nations.
you mean all our third-world neighbours? The only likely immediate neighbour is NZ who are obsessed by union, and have a modest interest in league. They arent big enough to hold a professional aussie rules comp in their own country either.
AFL is clumsy, untidy and poorly structured. Plain and simple.
it all depends on what you are used to. I like the freedom AFL gives. It's free flowing, fast paced and high scoring. To me RL seems too structured, too confined, too predictable and therefore very boring.
