AFL winning the grassroots battle in RL heartland

Post by Beaussie »

More work to do, but well done AFL. =D
Away from the NRL, at the grassroots level, junior, bush and and suburban clubs are screaming out for more support. They are tired of watching their participation numbers dwindle. They are tired of seeing the deeply resourced AFL increasingly swamp them as the NRL trots out participation numbers that have been overinflated by touch footy players.

Of course, the game faces many more issues and problems, not least its apparent lack of money. But if there is one thing it is lacking it's a sense of direction.

Read between the lines and get ya head out the sand Terry.

There is no battle going on in AFL heartland as we all know, RL is virtually non existent outside NSW and Qld. Meanwhile, as the article points out, the well resourced AFL continues to “swamp” RL at grassroots level. That’s a RL journo reporting that in case you didn’t notice.

Good to see the Touch Footy furphy finally exposed for what it is too.

"Well done" hahahahahahahahahaha. Self congratulations is no congratulations at all pal lololololol. Quick......get on the phone and tell Gilligan what a great jobs he's doing lolololololololololol. It'd be like Lucy telling Malcolm how incredible he is lololololol.

Now: what you should say in every post you make is "in my opinion" my friend. That's all you've got - 'opinions', some folk would call them delusional opinions....but opinions all the same. In your bubble you cannot concieve independant thought. So please don't assume knowledge or authority you don't possess.

And as far as touch footy goes - it is one of RL's best strategic moves to join forces with them under the one umbrella. RL is lucky it has a non contact version of the game that is closely aligned with it and can be played any time, anywhere by any age or gender.

And it's playing numbers are driven by REAL registered players OUTSIDE of schools. Unlike fumbling numbers in NSW which are masked by development officer driven school 'participation' stats that are more for propaganda purposes than real grassroots increases.

No one bar you buys that rubbish. As the article and many others point out, the move to include Touch Footy numbers is nothing more than a desperate attempt to try to inflate participant numbers and look better against the other codes. Desperate

The old beatup is getting......well......hopelessly beaten up lately lolololololololol. Fancy continually posting articles by the comic strip historian/journalist Fitzy the fool. The bloke is laughed at by real historians and journalists and lives in a lefty, RL hating echo chamber.

And on touch footy: what a dill. Some of the best players of a generation have honed their skills in touch before starting their NRL career - Benji Marshall, Shaun Johnson, Bevan French and many, many others. The fumblers would kill to have a non contact version of their sport that is played by hundreds of thousands of men, women & kids of all ages and shapes.

You must try and do better beatup!!!

Touch football is a partner of league, unlike the kicky league they try to boost there numbers with.

pretty piss poor article from Webster>>

As we all know R.L is a very hard contact game>>
That only a small percentage of People / Athletes can play..

Touch football has been aligned with the NRL>
as it is very identical and a game of Rugby League without the contact.
that many people can play without the bruises and busted up bodies
week in week out (something that Rugby League which affects Rugby codes)

One of the best moves NRL commission made since 2012.
