One of Australia's biggest idiots - Peter Fitzsimons!!!!!!! He's just after click bait.

I agree with spending the money on stadiums. I just think the strategy has been wrong. Ideally we need one 75/80k stadium adjacent to a transport hub. Not Homebush. Not Moore Park.

There has been talk about building one over central station. Perfect. Play SOO, GF, big drawing NRL games, Socceroos, Wallabies, concerts. Ppl from all over Sydney can be funnelled in and out of the stadium via existing public transport system. Then spend the rest on 20/25k modern suburban stadiums. Problem solved & probably save money.

That's the answer but it's not gonna happen. So we'll have to settle for the 2nd, 3rd or 4th best option. At this stage it's gonna be a 45k stadium at Moore park that should have been refurbished or 30k new one only.

Homebush is gonna be 1/2 rebuilt. Hopeless compromise. I suspect they will do the other half some time down the track. Still leaves ppl going to an out of the way soulless shithole.

Parra stadium will be good. It has existing rail, main roads and bus routes linked to it. Parra are obviously playing hard ball but a deal will of course be done. The pity is it's not 70k+ so we could use it as the city's main stadium and forget about Homebush.

when i saw the possible design of a Stadium in the heart of sydney >> like you said on top of Central Station

I thought WOW what a brilliant idea>>

Central station is the biggest station in Australia. and with the revamp it would of looked amazing

stadium location >> tick
Transport >>> Tick

further to your point, i would of loved to have seen money funnel into the burbs and outside of the main 3 grounds.
would of been great for the community and sport in general...

Well the stadium in getting knocked down now and the Swans will be sharing their ground with the Roosters, Waratahs and Sydney FC. ;)

Haha true that. :(/ :(/ :(/

Whilst demolition on Allianz Stadium has begun, the Labor Opposition Leader (currently well in front in polls) is suggesting that may well cease come NSW election in March. Highly doubtful ANZ Stadium reconfiguration will also go ahead in light of the massive public outcry over this blatant waste of NSW taxpayer dollars at a time when hospitals, schools etc are struggling so badly. Watch this space I guess.

Yep. Watch this space indeed my friend. And again - well done for at last coming out and throwing a couple. Albeit you're about as effective as the Man Mundines last fight!!!!

Personally I suspect Gladys will be narrowly re elected. Daley has got the personality of a phone book and is a policy vacuum. The more he gets seen on the TV the more votes the Libs will get.

But but but

Stadium Australia is one of the newer stadiums built in Australia! It’s only like 18 years old & already demanding it needs to be torn down for a new stadium

Maybe if the nrlols and aye leagues crowds were not so constantly pathetic there would be a case but there isnt

the upgrades is just not for rugby league..

it is for other sports that play there too. plus all the events and concerts per year.

Skilled is only 18 years old
Same age as docklands stadium

Allianz stadium was built 1990 same year as the great southern stand at the mcg!

Docklands have had minimal work done tonit and the mcg has had a the other side of the stadium replace, pondsford stand and members pavilion replace due to being some 50 to 60 years old!

The 200 events at the stadium Australia 98%will have crowds 15k or under and the grounds are still similar or relatively new in compared to Melbourne

FFS league can hardly sell out an 82k seat venue for its GF even with barren bin price tickets!

Why do you think there is so much backlash to wasting so much month on shiny new stadiums for the seats to never be used
