NRL should be seeing an Increase next year in crowds with the New Parramatta Stadium completion.

every one loves a fancy new Stadium..

Memberships year on year just keep going up...

with the AFL having a 35 year head start>> NRL is making good progress..

What a year 2018 has been.

* Crowds are up 3.8 percent,
* memberships up 5 percent,
* commercial revenue is up 18 percent,
* Ratings are up,
* Participation numbers are up,
* Female participation is up,
* TV viewer numbers continue leave the AFL for dead,
* A huge profit has been forcast,
* Billions spent on new stadiums/improvements,
And once again the NRL has the most watched game(s) on TV.

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just Wow
Most of these arent exactly leading the way.

Crowds are half that of the AFL
Membership is well lead by the AFL
commercial revenue is well lead by the AFL
yes your ratings are up and beating the AFL for the first time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
participation is well lead by soccer
female particpation is well lead by soccer
you already mentioned tv numbers
profits are irrelevant for no profit bodies that are supposed to invest

but hey you can have that one game of origin.
'but hey you can have that one game of origin.' Thanks Wookie and so we will.

Just a couple of things: You said our ratings beat the AFL for the first time. Against what measure do you make this statement? Can you quantify just what you compared? You yourself have stated in past years that RL won the tv ratings battle. I'm confused.

And you seem to make a big deal out of club and code profitability on this site and others. Now you say, " profits are irrelevant for no profit bodies that are supposed to invest.' Strange days indeed mama. Most peculiar now.

Now, I am raising these matters in a respectful courteous manner. I expect a reply in the same vain please.

Become an owner of Melbourne Storm

Authormelbournestorm.com.au Timestamp Wed 3 Oct 2018, 07:26 PM

Ever wanted to own your own sports team? Or better yet become an owner of YOUR Melbourne Storm?

Now you have that incredible chance with Melbourne Storm chairman Bart Campbell last night announcing the Club will begin exploring a fan ownership opportunity.

Expressions of interest are now open to become a Fan Owner of Melbourne Storm! Click here to register your interest and for further information.

The concept will give the public the opportunity to invest in the football club and in turn become not just fans but shareholders in the Melbourne Storm.

The model of fan ownership has been an enormous success for international sporting giants around the world, with teams such as the Green Bay Packers (NFL - USA) benefitting from this concept that takes fan engagement and support to a whole new level.

Mr. Campbell said that the Club and its current owners are excited at exploring the fan ownership model - that correlates with Melbourne Storm's desire to be an innovative and proactive leader in the Australian sporting landscape.

"When the owners took control of the Melbourne Storm five years ago, we committed to explore the viability of the fan ownership model once we had established a sustainable financial platform for further growth. We have been able to achieve that objective with the support of our fans and commercial partners and now is the time for us to look at the future of our football club.

"We see fan ownership as an innovative way to set the platform to turbo-charge the ambitious growth plans we have for the Storm, including doubling our membership to 50,000 by 2023.

"We know this is a complex issue and it will take some time to fully understand the interest and detail of a fan ownership model. We will keep fans up to date on any decisions that are being considered."

The Club has commenced the process of exploring whether the fan ownership model is a viable concept for all stakeholders by engaging with leading international advisory firm, Greenhill.

Thanks for the grammer lessen Wookie, much apprieciated.

Now: you didn't attribute Roy Masters in your comment about ratings. Thanks for retrospectively doing so. However you have misquoted the great Roy. What he actually said is that the NRL season alone (minus SOO ratings) has beaten the AFL season for the first time since 2010. And that is with many less games. If you even the number of games out by adding RL rep games the figure balloons out to 16M viewers for RL.

https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/nrl-tr ... 502u1.html

Also: you have commented on many many occasions about the difference in AFL v NRL revenue and profitability on these very pages. And when I say 'comment' I mean lampoon, denigrate and rant about the difference.

Have a grate dey!!!!!!

Hmmm it seems terry’s done his homework and Wookie is lying to the members...

Wookie is this true? Has terry caught you out? If so why would you mislead and lie to the members? Not something an administrator or anyone would really benefit from...

I hope ur not lying to us Wookie :)

RLIF confirms Nines World Cup, Oceania Cup in 2019

Australia will host the inaugural RLIF Nines World Cup and feature in a new Oceania Cup at the end of next season before touring Britain in 2020 as part of the new international calendar agreed to, in principle, by the Rugby League International Federation Board in the UK

These are exciting times for the sport in general and particularly the chance we have to both take a Great Britain team to the Southern Hemisphere next year and then welcome the Kangaroos in 2020
