Re: Rank the Codes in NSW

Me thinks if it is getting media and even getting you talking about it then it is having some presentation
Sure Wookie. But stats and commercial's don't tell the whole story my friend. I live in Sydney. I can guarantee Rugby has very strong and very long roots into many suburbs in Sydney. AFL has none of that bar money for the top end and development officers counting numbers at the bottom end. AFL is still regarded by most of the NSW population as a foreign sport.The_Wookie wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 8:53 pmif you only base it on participation sure. There is not another relevant commercial stat that where soccer and union beat it during regular season and finals unless the national side is playing.
And therein lies the answer. You hang your hat on a whole sport for the results of one team. Swans do well but most people that follow them in Sydney also follow other teams in RL, RU, soccer or a combination of them all.The_Wookie wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 10:11 pmBe that as it may, crowds, members, sponsors and tv ratings dont lie.Terry wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 9:56 pmSure Wookie. Still not borne out by any actual statistics. Other than your feels.Swans do well. GWS are irrelevant. Rugby as a code has a passionate supporter base albeit dependent on the Wallabies winning regularly. Tomorrow's Bledisloe cup ratings will be interesting.
In closing: AFL rank 4th in NSW. RL is 1. RU is 2. Soccer is 3. AFL is 4.
We KNOW that they outrate the Shute Shield and we KNOW (thanks to that one glorious year in 2017 when we actually got Fox splits) that the average Swans rating in Sydney for example wasnt much less than the entire national ratings for Super Rugby and the A-league.
NITV broadcasts Rugby League too. But you can crow about a channel showing AFL in Sydney that rates less than 1%Beaussie wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2019 9:54 pmI’m almost certain you just make shit up as you go.NRL&NFLweLaughATafl wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2019 4:44 pmMate I can watch NSW Club Rugby on 7two, Super Rugby is on 10 Bold every Sunday too.Beaussie wrote: ↑Sun Aug 11, 2019 5:35 am
So what channel can I tune in to see our home town NSW Waratahs in the rugby? Or what bout our local Sydney FC or Western Sydney Wanderers games in the soccer?
Meanwhile, FYI, the Port Adelaide vs Sydney game in the AFL was on Channel 7 yesterday.
By your very own logic AFL = Number 2 code in NSW.
So here we have two Rugby competitions getting coverage in Sydney. VFL gets ZERO coverage but Club Rugby does.
In Sydney one can watch the AFL on Channel 7 and 7mate along with the NEAFL prime time on NITV.
And let’s not forget all the AFL related tv programs (eg: AFL Football shows) on the 7 network, 9 network and NITV and all broadcast in Sydney/NSW.
Nothing for Rugby Union and more AFL programming than even the NRL gets. Go figure eh
Again for those following at home, AFL is the No.2 code in NSW. It’s a well established fact now.
Beaussie wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2019 9:49 pmYou’re delusional. Shute Shield is lucky to crack 12,000 - 14,000 viewers.. Total.NRL&NFLweLaughATafl wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2019 4:22 pmSuburban Rugbys Shute Shield is even said to outrate a lot of AFL games on Ch7.Terry wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2019 9:52 pm
Yeah mate, AFL definitely No 4 code in NSW overall. The Swans do very well, but GWS have got nothing apart from the AFL propaganda machine. Rugby and Soccer are both struggling but via the Socceroo's and Wallabies they're both safely in front of the AFL in the great state of NSW.
Them's the fact's folks.

Lol thanks for that . I'll remind you next time the debate comes up about secondary channels .The_Wookie wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2019 9:34 amChannel shown on is irrelevant. The fucking ashes is on GEM ffs and outrating everything.
No Freddy. Never have been pal. You'll have to read my beautifully constructed posts to get details. They're currently 4th.
Dear oh dear!!!!The_Wookie wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2019 5:18 pmYour details that dont prove that at all. But like normal around here, league folks grandly believe their own shit regardless of the statistical evidence.
Where he lives is utterly irrelevant when the figures are published. And again Freddy boyo - have you ever lived in Sydney or anywhere in NSW?
Being a patronising git might well get you a holiday too. Ive no time for this bullshit behaviour. And don't worry pal I'll take it easy on ya. I've promised Wookie that I won't intentionally upset our dear AFL friends here again. Xxx
