Lost opportunity for AFL to showcase game in China this year so Chinese fans will be eager and hungry for more great football in 2021
Now is not the time to drop the ball ( pun ) on this overseas promotion of AFL, but to focus on getting a local grass roots, youth or school competition up and running to complement the venture.

Are they protesting in the streets of China because the multitude of fans can't watch their fave new sport .

Maybe they should just show reruns of games
Keep the ratings on an upward trajectory .
Apparently some afl fans can't even tell the difference between games ..so the poor Chinese would have no hope .

Thanks .
Although it was about 14 yrs ago the fact that 50k fumblers watched the 2005 GF on fox while the 2006 GF was being played & couldn't tell the difference is still hilarious .
I suspect the poor Chinese would be in the same boat .

I can hear the Chinese GOVT trembling from here .
How dare Mick Milkshake threaten to deprive the million upon millions of Chinese fans of watching a game of fumbles .
What about the poor catering tent workers .
Their busiest day of the year ...no more

Then again tough love might teach them a lesson .

Lol punishment
You couldn't post enough lols to show how stupidly moronic that statement is .
I wonder if the Chinese Govt are holding crisis meetings around the clock to deal with this terrible terrible disaster.
:(/ :(/ :(/
Seriously
Those in the Vic bubble have this bizarre idea that their sport is important to those outside the insular bubble.

Hope Milkshake gets a microphone in front of him again to tell us more .

Why is it a vic bubble when the game is national and the dominant code in 4 states and 1 Territory ?

Have the state run media in China let the masses know yet .
Or are they worried about the population rioting over no fumbles & bumbles.

From 4 million to around 6 million is massive staggering growth the way I see it, unfortunately this year is a backward step but next year and beyond the growth should continue.
Granted that 6 million audience is only a small percentage of the billion plus population it's a sensational start that shows promise.
Once the figures grow exponentially, numbers such as 25 million viewers could be the norm but only if huge money in promotion and development is allocated.
Local government would need to develop playing fields and encourage schools to play the sport, regional and district teams would follow.
Grass roots support would eventually lead to interest on television.
At this stage one AFL game in China per year is not quite enough but it's better than nothing.

China will never get into AFL. Soccer beat them too it a long time ago. And AFL will never be able to compete with real football in any other country.
