Why are you starting another thread on a topic that is already covered in other threads?

2023 I think it is when we next test the broadcast market to determine which code is No.1.

Re: what ever happened to the record FTA deal
come to think of it we were told for the last few years that this latest deal would see the AFL well and truly eclipsed by the NRL. What happened?

kind of stupid thread, when Fox paid nine for Saturday game and simulcasting reduces the value....
THE NRL got a superb Deal
just look at the stats.
NRL 2billion (5 years
204 games including SOO at 408 hours of Tv time (per year)
AFL 2.5 Billion ( 6 years
207 games at 621 hours of Tv time. (per year)
That is 213 hours more of tv duration..
With all that and 2 less teams.

Re: what ever happened to the record FTA deal
your great deal, which includes a longer season, far more games in isolation, far more prime time games, SOO, rep games, international rights, and a heartland with the highest advertising dollar, is still well under the AFL. ouchleeroy*NRL* wrote:Xman wrote:come to think of it we were told for the last few years that this latest deal would see the AFL well and truly eclipsed by the NRL. our season may be longer but there is 2 byes installed in the year.
In fact did you totally misread what I stated.
the AFL actually have more games... with 213 hours more of Tv duration to sell ..
rep games are covered under a different banner.
your got to be kidding yourself if you think the AFL deal is better.
Its like comparing the Big Bash season to the Australia summer of cricket on channel 9

Re: what ever happened to the record FTA deal
Have you ever thought that the 6 year deal by the AFL
Fox and 7 paid abit more to secure it for 1 year longer..
In this environment .. for Sport, I would pay a touch more for a year longer.. and that's what FOX DID.
2 billion or 2.5 billion with extra year.. with 2 extra teams.. ( much the same)
yes we include our 3 games in SOO
but you cannot include RLWC and 4 nations Etc as they are sold separately..

Re: what ever happened to the record FTA deal
Both deals conclude in 2022 so in reality we now both have 7 year deals.Over the next 7 years the Afl will make 2.78 billion(250 next,2.58 for the next 6 Nrl will make 2.3-2.4 billion(200 million for the next 2,1.9-2 billion for the next 5) On top of that the NRL have to play thurs and Monday next year and Friday 6pm for the 6 years after that. What a fukn joke.My friend on this deal you got completely pantsed.leeroy*NRL* wrote:Have you ever thought that the 6 year deal by the AFL

tbh im not 100% sureThe_Wookie wrote:World Cup maybe excluded - deals are typically the province of the international body. Id bet four nations is included though, it usually is.
northern hemisphere when 4 nations are on and the World club challenge.
I think this is a separate deal, the NRL don't say much on this.
it says nothing on 4 nations.. in Australia either
