Absolutely. However, compared to sat arvo there are enough extra viewers in prime time for all prime time shows to rate higher.

Put it this way, if the NRL SOO was on Sat arvo do you seriously think WA, SA and VIC would rate nearly as high as SOO does in prime time? I've personally watched SOO quite a few times because I was home and there wasnt much else on. But I would never consider watching it if it was on in the arvo because Ive got better or more important things to do in the arvo

Everybody that watches will be watching the Grand Final (day or night). Yes, there are more viewers in prime time but there are also more high rating shows. Someone not watching the grand final is someone who would sooner be watching Home & Away or the block. ie they have NFInterest in the AFL Grand Final (there perfectly sane).....

So think up another but but excuse. You've done this one to death.
Rugby League, the dominant force in Australian sport!

LOL so thats why the swans are the largest football team in NSW :)))

actually pissy cat, the AFL GF had roughly round a 90% of the total viewership, unlike the NRLOL GF. the stats show time and time again that more people watch TV in the evenings hence why its called prime time.

so all the but but excuses you can come up with the NRLOL is number two! :))) more games in prime time, international games, SOO, RLWC etc the broadcasters still pay more for the AFL.
fact is fact
Australian sporting sponsorship
AFL excess of $50m
A league $30 million plus
ARU $27 million
NRLOL $25 million

So you think the NRL soo would rate just as high on Sat arvo as Wednesday night, especially in Vic?

http://indaily.com.au/news/2015/11/30/d ... v-ratings/
The innovation – aimed at boosting crowd figures and interest in the five-day format – was a prime-time ratings hit for the Nine Network across all three days, with an average audience of 2.313 million fans watching Sunday’s night session.

The TV numbers made it Nine’s highest-rating day of cricket in the 2015-16 season.
All coincidence of course. Nothing to do with the fact it was on in prime time

Rugby League the highest rating sport on TV in Australia, doesn't matter that they have a contract for less years and have less games each round and less players to pay blah blah blah.

LOL but but but rl sold everything they had but but but.

Well no not quite, expansion is still on the table and that yet can have a big effect on the next deal if that card is to be played, it's not going to be given away for nothing. It's in the contract and they are also talking about ch9 showing the best of the new NSW cup competition each week with teams from all over NSW, NZ and Fiji with options to also expand that competition where ever the game is played around Australasia.

AFL floggs use any excuse when they get beaten.

NRL has a over 300,000 more fans than AFL on facebook. Then they claim NRL buys their fans.

Pretty much indicates Rugby League will always have more casual fans than AFL.

I guarantee if you count which sport had more viewers of grand finals on a global level. AFL would be left in the dust every time.
