Actually most Americans don't even know what AFL is. And there is no way I could see many of them getting past those tiny shorts.

Without a doubt Rugby League is more well known and liked in the US than AFL.

The USA Tomahawks played infront of a humble 7,000 against the Canadian Wolverines.

I have never seen crowds in the thousands watching two North American AFL teams.

Is laughable AFL even being able to get any crowd watching their game there.

....

I'm talking about how basketball and baseball fans in the US would prefer AFL over NRL and NFL fans prefer NRL. And you go on about which is more involved. That's great I don't care. Perhaps NRL is throwing more marketing and money then the AFL. Take Russell crowe for example.

American will always prefer Rugby League over AFL when they see the two sports.

NFL and NRL have so many similarities in culture and rules that AFL has'nt.

Both play on rectangular grounds
Both have metre marks on fields.
Both have conversion kicks.
Both have to get the ball past a line for a try or touchdown.
Both have hit ups.
Both have cheerleaders.
Both sports require a lot of weight training.

I could go on forever with similarities between the two codes.

I have known a few Americans into NFL when I travelled and I can tell you the whole culture of AFL would be seen as too dorky. Uniforms and bad team songs would have them running away laughing for the start.

Is a lot about the image and look in American sports and I can tell you Americans would'nt take tiny shorts and the weird singlets in AFL seriously ever!!

And then the style of play in AFL has pretty much nothing Americans can relate too.
I've had American friends who really liked AFL, especially the faster paced play, and competing ball catching similar to basketball rebounds.
Don't insult basketball with your single nation abortion of a game lol..

No points for missing in basketball and it is played around the world.

Yeah I bet your American friends found AFL a good comedy fest.
well you can miss the hoop and still score in basketball.
No that is called a rebound shot in basketball and it is not guaranteed to go in the hoop off the backboard.

In AFL it is an absolute miss kick at goal and you still get awarded a point for it.
No other goal scoring game in the world has extra side goals or hoops.
Only AFL reward the poor attempts at goals.
=D> =D>
I know you'll struggle to understand this, but a point in AFL is considered a failed scroring attempt, not a reward

Still the most popular sport in Australia. But you keep your minor international expansion. I'm sure it makes you feel good watching the same 3 nations again and again, with Australia dominating year after year against a few minnow nations who dont even take RL seriously

New Zealand is currently the number one Rugby League nation. And beaten Australia the last few times.

Really shows you know fuck all what your talking about. =D> =D>

3 nations, I suppose Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, USA, Scotland and all the others that have played in the Rugby League world cup don't count lol..

Yet AFL still can't get any country to play their game. 8-[

New Zealands Kiwis are currently ranked the number one Rugby League side internationally since they beat Australia a few times in test matches.

You claimed Australia win all the time which is clearly wrong =D> =D>

What has Rugby Union got to do with it lol.. :(/

You think this paints RL in a good light? RL is a minor sport compared to RU in NZ. It embarrasses the kangawhos that a nation of 4m people, who far and away prefer RU, can be ranked higher than the biggest RL nation in the world
