AFL tried to promote AFL to Islanders by stealing an NRL islander player. Him quitting early and going back to a Rugby code early was a promotion disaster for AFL.

Izzy failed because he harmed his own reputation by taking the money and leaving rugby league, and then failing to do anything while he in the AFL.
