Wodonga

Also there are Victorians who play for clubs like;

Corowa
Albury
Lavington
Westside
CSU
(the last two are also Albury based)

Then there's the old Goulburn Murray RL.

round 23 2012, Mahe Fonua became the first Victorian-born and bred player to play in the NRL when he made his debut for Melbourne Storm. He played his junior career for South East Titans (formerly Berwick Bulldogs) in the Victorian Rugby League.[43][44]

I think Rugby League has a lot of potential to grow in Victoria. Will never beat AFL... but are alot Islanders and expats that enjoy a tougher alternative to AFL that live there.

To your question, development I think is going okay considering the competition.

RL is a joke anywhere in this country except QLD & NSW & its fast becoming a joke there!. the game has been in the country since the early 1900s, AfL has been producing players from around Australia for decades, the NRL just had its first Victorian born player, play in the NRL!

Aussie Rules has been around a good 30 plus years in Australia before Rugby League even existed.

So does AFL have a following in NZ yet???... Nope, not even a first grade team lol :(/

Is AFL known in England?? Hmm maybe with it's few hundred expat followers on Facebook :_<>

Does AFL have a following in the Pacific Islands?? Nope, no decent teams like Rugby league that have Fiji and Samoan national teams.. While PNG is in QLD reserve grade :\:

AFL is the older sport yet League is way more popular globally.

Love it, the video if anybody besides me *listened too, explains it all, but I just love the absolute garbage being thrown in this thread, the storm getting juniors makes all of you feel like they are shoving all your lying snouts in a bowl of ground pepper and making you snort it.

LOL.

But where are the professional leagues outside of Australia to compare with the English Super League? Who can an Australian AFL team play against under it's own rules? Rugby League has two on a competitive level (Great Britain and NZ). AFL has none.

Let's be realistic here.

League was literally borne out of Union which was codified 14 years before Australian Football. Is Australian Football known in England? Absolutely. Some of the larger clubs there have more than a hundred registered players.

Am I reading right that you just said that those countries have decent teams because they have national teams? You are aware that Fiji, New Zealand, PNG and Samoa have Australian football rep sides, right?
As for AFL in the UK, it is less popular than Cricket in the United States. I am from Northern England and I can tell you from someone who grew up there that AFL is not even noticed. Actually alot of people would not know what AFL is unless they had a friend from Southern Australia. Even NFL and Ice Hockey would be more known in England than AFL.

Yes Fiji and Samoa have AFL sides but you would hardly call them rep sides. They are that terrible they can't even play against Australia. Made no sense the AFL world cup when you are afraid to put Australia in it because they will thrash every other team.

Is like Australia putting a few random guys together to play NFL and then saying yep we have an American Football side.

You make these absurd claims & never back them up .

I am still waiting for proof ( not yourfucked up opinion ) that NRL hasn't expanded outside Qld & NSW ?
I asked what comp are the Melb Storm in
What comp are the Canb Raiders in& you waffle on with some inane crap.

So you ignore that & now post some other utter shit.

You seriously need help .
You have no grasp on reality .
The big bad RL is turning you into an even bigger blithering ****** than before .

So what? Popularity doesnt mean the sport isnt played there.

Because Samoa has been so competitive against Australia in League in the past.
Is like Australia putting a few random guys together to play NFL and then saying yep we have an American Football side.
Yeah its not like that at all.
Tell me wookie how many Islanders play in the AFL if any?
AFL never will never be an Islanders game. Part of the reason a Somoan AFL side is not taken seriously. How long did Izzy stay in AFL??
NRL would have close to a quarter of it players with Pacific Islander heritage - possibly more.
This just proves which sport the pacific Island nations are playing.

As for AFL in the UK, of course it is there.. But it is in a miniscule form. A bit like NFL being played in Victoria.

It doesnt invalidate there being a samoan side just because there arent any in the AFL.

There are almost as many registered AFL players in the UK (2500) as there are NRL players in Victoria (2800).
Yes just like I said AFL is a very small sport in the UK.

Rugby League has over 248,000 registered players in the UK.

AFL is miles behind other introduced overseas codes too like American Football.
There is already talk of London having it's own NFL team.
