well well well whata surprise eh. Lumumba, who if I recall correctly wasn't too impressed by colllingwood coach buckley's support of eddie mcguire's racist chants on national radio is now unfortunately set to leave the club over disagreements and tensions about a woeful case regarding the lack of removal of homophobic graffiti slapped, of all places, on the club notice board

Yep im not surprised the club has taken the stance of Lumumba as a trouble maker, rather than addressing the blokes concerns. Racism and homophobia is just something the afl seem to see as normal, amusing and not something to remove nor raise as an issue, nor sack someone for being that way. Prob best not to watch this space folks as my prediction is nothing of note will occur here apart from the doors at collingwood being politely opened so Lumumba can get out of their sight

But of course they do have their token indigenous round to make things seem pc

The problem was highlighted in a 2010 Victoria University study that showed 42 per cent of gay participants in mainstream sport experienced homophobic harassment, discrimination and exclusion. The AFL was found to be the least-welcoming code, with 45 per cent of those surveyed saying they would not play the game for fear of abuse.

Gay rights activists insist this culture cannot be changed quietly and question why the unashamedly self-promoting AFL media machine issued no press releases to celebrate the anti-homophobia ads or the proposed Pride game. The news came to light only when Fairfax Media learnt independently of the developments.

The AFL declined to participate in this story.
