ffs league started in England and made its way to Australia, its hardly grown any where, Australia still supply over half the players for the world cup, and Australia still dominatesAFLcrap1 wrote::_<> :_<>adamj1300 wrote:dumbass, crapper, rugby league is hardly an international sport it self.AFLcrap1 wrote:.Pete_09 wrote:"7% of all Northern Territorians in 2007 participated in Australian Football, the highest participation in Australia (and second worldwide only to Australian Football in Nauru)"

You AFL dumbo's make comments likes this, create threads about how your sport is international and you have a pretend International cup played in Australia which Australia is not even allowed to play in, piss funnyadamj1300 wrote:ffs league started in England and made its way to Australia, its hardly grown any where, Australia still supply over half the players for the world cup, and Australia still dominatesAFLcrap1 wrote::_<> :_<>adamj1300 wrote:dumbass, crapper, rugby league is hardly an international sport it self.AFLcrap1 wrote:.Pete_09 wrote:"7% of all Northern Territorians in 2007 participated in Australian Football, the highest participation in Australia (and second worldwide only to Australian Football in Nauru)"

According to AFL Northern Territory it has 5,497 people playing senior club football, with the number blowing out to 9464 when junior and youth clubs are taken into account. This number does not include school football (another 13,700), Auskick (abnother 4,700) or nine a side.
Soccer is the definitive proof right across the land.. people play what is easy & safe to play ... RL is a hard game to play & has a reputation for being dangerous.
but people love to watch it as it is a great gladiatorial sport.

Darwin is an RL town these days & becoming more so
also
our figures wouldn't include schools participants either or touch or tag players
those RL figures would be over 15K

Re: Australian Football vs Rugby League in Darwin
The AFL have over 9k in organised comps, not including Auskick or school. Include them and the number is close to 30k
The NRL only have a bit over 2k.
So the AFL has over 4 times the playing numbers more. Hmmmmmm thats the end of this debate.

if its easy & girly to play ... mummy will have lil johnny play it... soccer & VFL come to mind
meanwhile
Darwinites watch a lot more NRL .. then VFL these days
because it is the cities most popular sport
just ask Ch 9
Darwin
add the NT capital to the huge list of RL towns in Aust will ya
& take it off the smallish .. unimpressive list of VFL ones

gladiatorial
a bunch of fat blokes with selfe steam issues banking in to other fat blokes with the same issues, is what people prefer to watch.
just because you prefer to watch that, doesn't mean every one else does
you claim the numbers don't mean anything but even though its the proof.
but expect every one to go by that a channel nine executive said, its called promoting your own product.
2005 was when near the end of the broadcast rights, and where still recovering from being broke earlier in 2000s. they had no money to compete with the next deal. why show a product that you know that you will have in the near future, channel 9 was only looking after their best interest for the long term
