and it'll be utter rubbish. 150k for a 20 minute game is nothing. The AFL preseason games are 2.5 hrs each, there's 18 plus finals, and they rate between 90-170k each. Thats around 50 hrs rating an average 130k each.

Compare that to the NRLs 16hrs rating even 200k

Not even a competition.

Yes I agree, soccer is no threat to RL. The NRL is just far too dominant. However soccer is a major threat to the afl's expansion plans. GWS had a very small window of opportunity which they've now lost. Thousands of could be fans have had their decision made for them by racist gimps like eddie macguire and kevin sheedy who both made derogatory narrow minded comments regarding Western sydneys cultural diversity. On the other hand the West Sydney wanderers did nothing of the sort and opened their arms widely to the culturally divwerse community in which they resided.

If I was a recent immigrant living in the west who was looking for a sport to follow and was evenly undecided between marngrook and soccer, and then I heard the afl louts kev and eddie opening their mouths I know what code id be following afterwards. A big loss to the afl. Both kev and eddie continue to receive regular large pay packets from the afl. Eddie is particularly well paid and has made many many more sexist, homophobic and racist gaffs in his time. Seems that's the way in the AFL...
