Former Canberra Raiders captain Simon Woolford has called on the ARL Commission to end the club's "ridiculous" exile from free-to-air television coverage.

Bahahahaha, a former player says that and it's gospel.

Hmmm, when did Simon Woolford last play for or have anything to do with Canberra you ask?

2006 wasn't it, he's been in the Gong since then and has only just gone back to Queanbeyan this year to coach the Blues.

The guy has a point about FTA TV, but taking games away isn't the answer, playing better footy is and he should know it as he is one of the main guys that held the Raiders back for years when he played there with his indisciplined nature and complaining. Nothing has changed by the looks of it.

And the draw hasn't been released, so how the hell anyone could say, we are playing here this weekend and the next we will be playing there is beyond my thinking ](*,)
The raiders themselves claimed they are considering games in Perth.

They have also expressed disgust at their treatment by ch9. Dont make out like its just my opinion.

They can't take games to Perth this year no matter what any ex player says, the earliest would be next year.

Perth has already got at least 3 games this year locked in and they have been locked in for at least 12 months(off the top of my head), and why would Canberra take a game there anyway when there are other areas that actually support them screaming out for games?

If they were to take any games interstate, they'd go to QLD where one of their feeder teams play in the QLD Cup.

Raiderdave all of the money made from pokies does not go back to the club. Otherwise why would they be needing extra money from the ACT Government and the nRL? If they were supposedly rich from their pokies as you say they are, they would not need or get these extra grants.

who says they need it .... but if the govt are going to give it to the brumbies & those leaching undeserving scum in orange
we'll have our share too

unlike most other NRL clubs ... the Raiders are not in partnership with the leagues clubs & other licensed premises that bare their name
they OWN them outright
one board controls both the football operation & the licensed operations

every cent of profit belongs to the Canberra Raiders RLFC
they are a pocket dynamo financially ....

compared them to Port Crapelaide
its like a bogan on a stakeboard ... up against someone in a V8 SS Commodore

with the extra money from the NRL.... they'll probably post bigger profits in 2013 then Collington , whorethorn & essenmond ..... put together
So why do they have a football budget of 12 m which includes 50% from handouts? It also includes income from their business arm. They are also considering selling home games to make ends meet.

As Stewie said, their business arm has costs and income of its own...
I have a question for you
take the 10m the VFL gave whorethorn as handouts away ...... & how'd they do this year ?

theres several vic vfl clubs that get more then 10m from the VFL .... & up to another 5m from various forms of the Vic govt
making up MORE then 50% of their football budget

& they don't have gaming arms that turnover 49m & make nearly 4m in profits ... do they d head ?

what extra NRL funding ?

the Raiders football divison received 12 million in income ... & spent 12.2 million to run itself
their gaming arm earnt 49m in income & spent 45.4m to run its operations

theres one bucket & its deep & fulla cash
if the Raiders football divison have a shortfall in their earnings ... ie no sponsor ... or a drop in membership revenue or gate receipts etc
theres no problem , they have plenty in the kitty.

and of course next year ... they get an extra 3m straight off the bat from the increased grant ... & with the salary cap only rising by 1m
theres every chance the football divison will post a healthy profit .. as well as their gaming arm.

Raiders ... killing it

How is an ongoing investigation sweeping it under the carpet?

Arent you going to look like a dick when they announce their findings
The commission hearing was supposed to start on Monday, but it was postponed after a request from Adelaide and their football manager Phil Harper.
The league granted the delay to give Harper, who was only charged last week, and the Crows more time to prepare their legal defence.

Tippett, Adelaide chief executive Steven Trigg, Harper and former Crows football operations manager John Reid have all been charged as a result of the investigation.
The delay means Adelaide can participate in Thursday's AFL draft on the Gold Coast.
The league want the hearing to happen before the pre-season draft and are now scrambling to find dates that suit as many members of the commission as possible.
Given the high stakes involved, the hearing will probably last more than one day.

Delaying the draft would affect all 18 clubs rather than just one club alone. How stupid can you get? The Crows will cop their punishment in next years draft and possibly a few after that as well. End of.
