Yes, that is a real possibility. Do you think AFL people fear this? Seems Australian Rules does particularly well in SEQ regardless - there is a long history and many leagues and clubs in this area. I don't think it will ever overtake the popularity of Rugby League however as it is quite entranced. Australian Rules is, however, fairly firmly entrenched as a sport in the area - and growing. I think the NRL should have done this long ago to be honest but there is the point that the Titans have been here for a while and there just isn't the rivalry - but Brisbane do need a second team regardless. I think WA also need an NRL team - maybe one day RL will be able to have a similar following there that Aussie Rules enjoys in SEQ if they started now, in maybe 50 years. but you have to start somewhere. As Gus said - the NRL need to think 15 years ahead - and I say 50 years ahead.

The Cowboys Rivalry between the Broncos
never really got anywhere until 2004

the Year Cowboys Beat the Broncos for the 1st time.
and also made the Cowboys the competitive force they would become over that next decade.
and rivalries have been built on this.

A derby for broncos & GC will move league even further ahead of other codes in seqld.
Will it? or will it split the Broncos supporter base.
I recan it would only make things bigger.

Another Team in a 1 team city would enhance things
competition and rivalry would increase
and everything else is a knock on effect.

look at all the cross code rivalries been built once entered into the comp

Crows v Port

West Coast v Freo

BIG BASH

Thunder v 6ers

Stars v Renegades

Soccer

Wanderers v Syd FC

Victory v City

Doubt it would split
Mite take some away but not many
Too many rusted on fans
There's still plenty who have allegences to Syd clubs or a club in the BRIS comp.
Many who do follow the BRIS comp hate the Broncos with a passion ..blaming them for destroying the very strong BRIS comp in the 80s.
I'd think they would jump on board a sec BRIS team .....a team that is NOT the Broncos .

Thats cute. But youve no idea what will happen, no code has put two teams in any national league in Brisbane before as far as Im aware. It makes for a great comparison study.

NBL - Bullets
HAL - Roar
BBL - Heat
AFL - Lions
NRL - Broncos
SNL - Firebirds
ARU - Reds
Brisbane is Rugby League heartland like no where else. None of those other sports can compare.

Leave the debate for those above a grade 2 education .
You failed yet again to comprehend what was written in plain English .
1 team city .
The Gold Coast is not PART OF Bris City .
We are talking cross town rivalries .
Try to keep up stupid
