Newcastle vs Titans 8274.
Lowest home crowd for the Knights since 1997.
And on the Weekend that Channel 9 announces it wants one NRL side to go and a new team in Brisbane.
Knights have got no worries,
well supported club and great numbers to games every season. even with lots of wooden spoons

(it is not hard to allign the numbers to this game with all the issues the past 2 weeks.

what's the bet there next home game is well over 20k

Yep. And there was torrential rain before and during the game. The Knights fans will be back next year.

I would think the knights are 1 of the 3 Chuckball clubs that are absolutely safe, normally consistent crowds and located in a location without competition, NRL wouldn’t be that mad.
There are lies, damn lies and then there are ratings.

yep spot on.

the ideal of clubs are the cronulla sharks,
as they are between South Sydney and St George Illawarra Dragons.
and the Sharks are crammed in the middle in the shire.

if you get rid of Manly Warringah.

you have no team from North sydney to Newcastle.
population over 1 million.

interesting times>> look out for the REPORT by the NRL in DEC 2019

I suspect they will recommend a 2nd Brisbane team at the start of the next broadcast cycle with a view to a Perth team down the track. No teams will be re-located.

Channel 9 apparently want 2 exclusive games a week rather than 3 simulcast. That would cost big money but I couldn't see Fox being happy with only 6 games. Particularly when RL is their biggest rating sport.

Then there's 10 and 7. It was rumoured 10 wanted one FTA game per week in the last deal. That could come into play next time.

All in all it will be an interesting broadcast deal with many players potentially at the bargaining table.

i agree Brisbane will be a must, be a win win for crowds and tv

I think your right aye, i suspect they will go with 17 teams with a bye for a while.
before looking at options.

I would love and it would be a very smart move by the NRL if they went with 2 x FTA broadcasters
it would enhance the profile along with FOX>

The next round of TV rights could be most interesting
CBS now own 10 and they targeted sport, mainly NFL, to lead their revival in Network TV , they have the capacity to broadcast live and stream live.
Disney plus starts in November, Disney majority owns ESPN, they could also be a player.
There are lies, damn lies and then there are ratings.

Yet they have a team 45 minutes down the road in the titans that are a total disaster!

Yet another team in Brisbane will magically fix all this :(/

Another brisbane team would benefit GC by creating another local derby.
