It has for well over 15 years.
It's the price you pay for having the biggest sporting event in Aust .
Crowds & ratings suffer badly for about 6 weeks .

true true>>

though we could have the best of both worlds
where SOO is an exclusive window for 3 weeks.

and doesn't mess with NRL H&A season

(have a great opening 12 weeks for the NRL)
than Bang Mid season 3 week break for SOO
with rep games on Friday & Saturday like what we are doing this week

all media attention devoted to it>> 3 weeks of intense matches ratings, crowds, sponsorship etc etc

than straight back into the NRL season.
than into finals..

than rep games and tours end of year (oct/nov

10k in Sydney for 2 Sydney NRL teams last night

36k in Sydney for 1 Sydney AFL team on exactly the same night
It's a stretch to compare these two NlolRL.
They were played across the road from each other, on the same night at the same time..........
And 10k, total fudge! It was no where near quarter full.

It's time the AFL get a new stadium in Sydney.
We've out grown the SCG.
And most of all.
We deserve it.
a quarter full would mean there was 20k there as the ground fits 83k
I was referencing the SFS.

SOO is hurting the NRL season in the middle too much..
So what about the poor crowds you’ll get for the rest of the season? Is that still the SOO’s fault too?

Realistically it’d be much more viable to just scrap the whole NRL comp and just play your 3 exhibition matches a year. It would save throwing money hand over fist on being nationally embarrassed. I mean, I hate to keep harping on this but people don’t even bother to show up to the sport’s pinnacle event, the GF. It’s like nobody even cares who wins or loses the comp. At least if the NRL only had to fund 3 exhibition matches a year they might post a profit?

Just a thought for Greenberg and his merry men to consider...

poor crowds> 16k average is not poor, when the game has SOO and REP games in between the H&A Season.
Which SOO will achieve 3 sold events
87k
83k
52k
Add in REP games which are not included in our AVG H&A crowds. the Avg is actually higher.

nobody cares who wins the NRL G.F ? is that why its in the Top 5 programs watched every year
and sometimes beats the AFL G.F ?

NRL Tournament brings in a lot of money>> about 80% of the AFL Deal
than NRL have SOO which ads a further 15% to the NRL Deal.

NRL to AFL Broadcasts AFL gets 22mill a season more. (approx.)

This was the kind of weather we experienced in Melbourne yesterday, yet the tigers v cats game still got over 46k. Meanwhile the NRL only got 88k for their entire round of 8 games, most of it in fine weather!

Here's a thought for you .
Try to post something close to reality .

https://www.sbs.com.au/news/nrl-posts-2 ... ear-profit

NRL posts $28 million half-year profit

Are there any fumblers on here who have the slightest clue of what is really going on .
Most just mash the keys with absolute rubbish .

Heard the commentators mention last night that it was 7 consecutive crowds of 50,000+ this season for West Coast in Perth. Wow indeed. Game in crisis? :hmm:
