Tanking in AFL according to bigfooty members

This is why the NRL should never go to a draft System imo.

So these members are looking for a solution to there tanking problems
Blessed You only have to look at how good Carlton are now to see how Tanking can be effective. Yes, I know all about Pendlebury and Thomas as well so we aren’t clean. For Melbourne, this year with the concession pick for Scully, there is absolutely no incentive to win a game. If Melbourne finish last or with only GC and GWS behind them, you get picks 3 and 4. In a superdraft, this is a platform for future success. For Melbourne fans, there is no reason at all for your team to try this year. You are only shooting your future in the foot if you win a couple of meaningless games. Yes, you still need to pick the right player. But the numbers suggest, the earlier the pick; the more likely for success. And next year is a SuperDraft.

Holy shmokes! Thanks eels this is very interesting indeed and may be the reason xman is too scared to bet me on how poor the basketcases will go.

Perhaps within the AFL comp there is a secret unspoken comp between 4-8 teams going on for who can be the lowest. That would be one explanation why these basketcases are so uncompetitive.

Tough to say though. Alls I know is its a BIIIIIG ass problem for the AFL.

Tanking is a myth thought up by the media. Tanking in round 3 is farcicle as said by many people in that thread.

And has already been proven BS in the BS file here on Talking Footy. BF is a BS source. What Carlton did was not tanking and never will be.

That is all.

You'd have to be dumber than a nrl fan to believe tanking exists.

Now for the dumbies. Just how many draft picks did GWS recieve before any other club had a shot?

Well!
Nice try Cos.

Wow! You've outdone/undone yourself here TLPG. So bigfooty is a BS source yet the BS files are completely valid?

I'll agree with bigfooty having a lot of bs in it but the way you've thrown these two sentences together and validated the BS files without question? Hilarious stuff!

So the comments of one member at Big Footy is proof of the existence of tanking in the AFL. Way to go eelofwest. #-o

Of course it's discussed. The media bring it up every year. Doesn't mean its real though.

Yes those fans see it as a reality. And all the evidence supports them not xman or tlpg. But evidence and these two folk are usually galaxies apart so nothing new to see here.

An AFL inside staffer brought it up last year. You saw it so no need to go searching for the massive media coverage it rightfully deserved.

And well look at the basketcases this year and last Xman. Tanking looks to be part of the modus operandi at the bottom of the table nowadays and looking at the rewards they will receive for their hard year of tanking who would argue with their reasoning? Melb, Brissy, GC and GWS are right on track for the "Superdraft". Allow me to refer to our BF expert once more. I found his writing to be based entirely on evidence.

3 picks in 4 Xman and 4 teams presenting as absolute basketcases in the AFL comp, there's your 'evidence' right there Xman :>::

So let me get this straight. You believe a team who won 8 games last year and have a young developing list, have decided to tank from the start of the year this year?
